What do you know about 5g and the Internet of Things?

Hi everyone,

I have been around on mumsnet for many years. This will be a long post but I urge you to read it and decide for yourselves. I am sharing this on here as most I assume who read this are parents. A little bit of background on me, I am a nurse with over 20 years experience, and also currently studying to become a natropathic nutritional therapist. I have 2 children and like most parents, try to do the best for them. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I am just mum who cares about humanity.

My health has not been great the last few years (recurrent infections, fatigue, brain fog, poor memory, mood changes, 2 cancer scares etc). Whilst these can be attributed to a lot of things (mainly a very difficult breakdown of a long term relationship and all that comes with that), I started to consider the impact of electro magnetic field radiation on my health. This documentary explains why this is important.

This has certainly impacted on me and I feel I have to share it and spread the word. Up until recently I would have been a bit dubious of people talking about electro magnetic field sensitivity. I am not a lunatic in a tin foil hat.

I realised I was sat in front of my wifi connected computer for many hours a day for work and study, then sat in my living room about 2m away from my wifi router at night. The kids have tablets and a PS4, not to mention my smart phone (kids don't have phones aged 12 and 8). I started to get tingling in my hands when holding my phone or on my laptop. I started to get eye strain. I was not sleeping well at all. I could almost feel the electrosmog we are surrounded with.

I started researching, and what I found has radically changed the way I feel about tech. I am not a heavy user of tech compared to some, I was always conscious about the social impact of device use and limiting the kids time on tech. But I was more concerned about what they were looking at, watching, playing than the mode of how it was delivered.

I have learnt a lot recently about epigenetics, how our envioment, lifestyle and diet affect the way our genes express themselves and ultimately lead to chronic disease. What you eat, where you live, who you interact with, when you sleep, how you exercise, even aging – all of these can eventually cause chemical modifications around the genes that will turn those genes on or off over time. Additionally, in certain diseases such as cancer or Alzheimer’s, various genes will be switched into the opposite state, away from the normal/healthy state. See more about epigenetics here: www.theguardian.com/science/occams-corner/2014/apr/25/epigenetics-beginners-guide-to-everything

One of the factors I have learnt that can affect our DNA and how genes express themselves is electro magnetic field radiation exposure (EMF). Our earth is now bathed in so much EMF we are exposed to hundreds and thousands times more EMF than even 50 years ago. Russain scientists knew this way back in the 1970s. There is now evidence that EMF can be linked to infertility, insomina, anxiety, depression, cancer, autoimmune diesease etc. However there is also research, funded by the telcom agencies that EMF at current levels are safe. Safety levels that were established way before smart phones, smart watches, smart baby monitors etc.

There is a huge push at the moment to rush out 5g technology which will operate at levels 10-100 times stronger than we are currently exposed to at 4g. And it has not been tested. The wave forms will be pulsed, and antenas will have to be spaced 100 m apart, and potentially outside your bedroom. They are already installing these across the country (cutting trees down to do so). The Americans are "leading the race". This video explains how greed is pushing the direction, without any consideration of how this will effect us, the planet and all that live here.

We already know bee and insect populations have been dying out since 4g became more available. We know there are cancer clusters around phone masts. Thousands of scientists and health professionals are joining force to try and have at the very least strict standands and research before this is rolled out. Some areas in the UK are halting the roll out until more information is provided by the government to prove it is safe. But it is already live in some areas. www.5gspaceappeal.org/the-appeal

The justification for all this: to enable the Internet of Things. Driverless cars, faster download speeds, connectivity, and the birth of artificial intelligance. Eventually they want to beam 5g down from space bathing us in non ionising radiation at levels never ever tested. With so many peole connected to devices this could be catastrophic for the earth and our enviroment. www.space.com/5g-in-space-internet-satellites.html

One day I realised that all of a sudden, without much consideration to health impacts, everywhere has wifi. On buses,in cafes, in homes, in hospitals etc and it snuck up on us without realising because we welcome the convenience. I will be the first to admit I was sucked along by this and the ease my smart phone brings and wifi tech. Most people now have smart phones and 4g is everywhere (think back 10 years). 5g is coming soon (and already is rolled out in some areas but not yet switched on to its full capacity).

Current safety levels for mobile phones were tested on 1g and 2g, and were not tested on real humans. They were tested on a foam artifical head with no biology. In addition to this they were tested on a head based upon the average head size of a US military personell. Not a child, not a female, but members of the US army. These levels have not been adjusted since the introduction of 2g/3g/4g and 5g. If you go to your smart phone (legal settings) it actually tells you not to hold it to you head, or your body.

5g will use much higher frequencies than we currently use with 4g. These have not been tested for the effect they have on humans and their cellular biology. There is a lot of evidence about dna mutation (and cancer) and neuropsychiatric changes in mice and rats. The WHO has classed EMF radiation in the same carcinogen group as asbestos and smoke polution. There are calls for it, as new evidence has arisen to class it as a direct class 1 carcinogen (and that is at current levels). 5g-emf.com/urgent-warning-media-release-ontario-doctors-warn-of-rising-health-care-costs-after-5g-roll-out/?fbclid=IwAR0X8owPF-PELcc-uc4APo1rB_0e7v5Aq-hG8tqCUhbVl29HyQodqXsT1Ss

One of the points that convinced me that this is harmful is that Lloyds of London (insurance) have exlcuded EMF related illness from their policies. We need to think why that is. I think its because they know its unsafe and they predict this will be a major factor in ill health in the future if not already. www.jrseco.com/wp-content/uploads/Insurance-AE-CFC-Underwriting-Limited-Lloyds-Latest-Version-February-7th-2015.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0pPSOMcvbB (exclusion 32)

What can you do to help limit the impact it has on us, our children and the enviroment?

  1. Go wired. My router had wifi enabled all the time. I learnt I can diasble my wifi and use ethernet cables to connect to my devices. Now my laptop, phone and the kids devices are all connected via wires. No wifi in the house at all. I got rid of my smart phone and will not be buying anymore "smart tech". My eldest could do with a phone as he enters teenage years. We have agreed he can have his tablet at home or when he needs it out and about, and use the Nokia 3310 as a hotspot if needed or use wires. You can buy adapters for most devices that allow you to plug in to your intenet. For example an iphone, you simply plug in the adpater and put the phone into aeroplane mode and it works like a tablet. You can also go to settings and turn your smart phones down to 2g.

  1. If you dont or cant do that at the very least turn wifi off when not using it, especially at night.

  1. Leave phones away form the bedside at night or into aeroplane mode. Reconsider all your smart appliances, turn off blutooth. All emit EMF radiation.

  1. Speak to your schools about wifi in classrooms, do they need it? www.facebook.com/ouvronslesyeuxcom/videos/577631516319704/UzpfSTEwMDAwMDQ0NzQ5ODU3NjpWSzo0NTAxNDAxOTU4Nzg5OTg/

  1. Do not hold the phone to your head if you can help it, use

headphones (not wireless) or put on loud speaker, or go back to a wired landline.

  1. There are lots of local groups being set up about this subject, and local councils are the first place to go to about concerns about 5g. Essentially this roll out contravenes the Nuremberg code, and is a mass experiment. They said asbestos was safe, they said tobacco was safe, they said DDT was safe (amongst other things). Current levels of exposire are not safe, and will be even more dangerous when 5g is rolled out. Does the balance of a driverless care on our health weigh up?

If you decide to look into this for yourselves you will find some people are calling this a silent war, are suggesting its to do with depopulation and UN Agenda 21. People are focused on surveilance and control. I do not wish to get dragged into all that. What I know if at the moment we can try limit the impact and we can fight to halt the roll out of 5g. If you got this far, thanks for reading. I have tons of peer reviewed studies and links if anyone wants more info.

Global stop 5g day will be on the 25th Jan 2020. www.facebook.com/groups/548912049259423/ We can do something about this.

This shouldn't be in relationships surely, I read three quarters of that innocently looking for the issue.

Do we still have Batshit musings or did it get thrown out with sleb twaddle?

I put it in relationships because I know there are a lot of people here with kids and I can't cope with AIBU! YOu don't need to read it if you don't want too.

poopypants I am a long time poster on here, I am purely trying to raise awareness of something that is important to us and our children.

I thought it was background and an abusive DP was stalking you based on the title.
You don't need to brave AIBU, try chat or general health.

I miss the days when the only people who talked about scientific subjects were the ones who studied and/or read proper books about them. You can find YouTube videos supporting any crack pot theory and watching a few of them doesn't mean you've discovered some hidden truth about 9/11, "chemtrails", or 5G.

OP - You are wrong and sadly coming from so weak a knowledge base that you don't even realize what you say doesn't make sense.

"Eventually they want to beam 5g down from space bathing us in non ionising radiation"

Yes, cell phones, WiFi etc emit non-ionizing radiation. Do you know what that means? It means that it can't ionise - that is, it can't knock off bits off your DNA and cause cancer. X-rays are ionizing. WiFi is not. Neither is 5G.

In fact 5G is so weak that you lose it when you are in a different room. That is why so many masts will be needed. Not because it is so strong but the contrary, because it is weak and can't even penetrate human skin.

You won't believe any of that, naturally, because it is not an alarmist YouTube video Hmm You can at least do us all a favor and check the definition "non-ionizing radiation", which should help.

I work in telecoms and specifically IoT stuff.

I suggest you do some more research.

Also, google for all the health scores related to mobile phones when they came out, and then especially the twaddle that was spouted by people who knew nothing about the subject who scaremongers that 3G would kill us all.

This is the same, although the science in their case is different and much easier to understand why the “risks” are nonsense.

The info is all out there if you google it and the services are already running in parts of the world and UK

Naturopathic nutritional therapist, actually. Its all very much based in science.

And you are wrong, CotedeAzur, I simplified the terms for the forum. I have researched this extensively to understand it, in peer reviewed scientific journals. It is not crack pot. If it was so crack pot why would the WHO class it as a Class 2 carcingoen in the same bracket as asbestos and smoke exposure? Scientists are urgently calling for it to be reclassified. There are links between gliomas and mobile phone use. If it was so crack pot why are Lloyds insuring against it?

Please read this appeal: www.5gspaceappeal.org/the-appeal

Many local councils in Europe are stopping the roll out of 5g. This is not a conspiracy theory, I am purely trying to raise awareness about wifi and cellular technology on health.

I know my brother has written books on 3G & 4G, and he's currently working on 5G and he says no big issues. That's good enough for me.
Have you heard of the inverse square rule?

Well I'm a nurse with longer experience and my first thought was here's 'another person who reads poor quality research'.Your job has nothing to do with it and should not have been mentioned in the name of trying to give your schpeil credence.
Without some pretty strong EMF there would be no North and South Poles, it's always been here and everywhere and the planet would not exist in its current state without the help of EMF. As for bee's, climate change would be my first thought surely 🤔

I once made the mistake of finding a mobile barber to cut my boyfriend's hair on Gumtree. She stayed for 3 hours ranting like this, about phones, the Internet, how the earth is flat and we are being lied to, and how the government are putting microscopic GPS trackers in ready meals. Are you that same woman? Grin

Maybe it is your way of asking for help, is that it? Are you searching for answers as to why you've been unwell, you answered it yourself with the breakdown of a long relationship and the stress it causes - which lowers immune system, hence infections. You've latched onto something unreal here run by conspiracy theorists. Assuming you're female, given your length of experience OP, I'd also suspect menopause - brainfog, fatigue, mood swings etc can be hormonal fluctuations.

@Morporkia no I'm coastal england, it was so awkward because it was in our house! Couldn't tell her to get out, luckily we managed to usher her out as we were going to miss the film we were off to see. I then had another at home cut (for myself) from a different lady I found through a local recommendation group and she was so lovely, so I just got unlucky by going via Gumtree, won't make the same mistake again!

"CotedeAzur, I simplified the terms for the forum. "

Of course, because we are the ones who won't understand the proper scientific terms Grin

"I have researched this extensively to understand it, in peer reviewed scientific journals."

If so, why don't you post some of those rather than expect people here to spend their time watching tinfoil-hat YouTube videos?

"If it was so crack pot why would the WHO class it as a Class 2 carcingoen in the same bracket as asbestos and smoke exposure?"

Stop it. You are embarrassing yourself.

WHO classifies asbestos and tobacco smoke as "known human carcinogens*, and rightly so. "Possibly carcinogenic" is one of the lowest levels in WHO's system of classification, which 5G shares with coffee, drinking hot beverages, and thyme, I believe. If any study at all finds that any dose of a substance causes any spike in cancer in any creature — even in mice, even with a small sample size, even with marginal or dubious significance — that's the classification it gets.

"Scientists are urgently calling for it to be reclassified."

Very very few. The rest are shaking their heads and wishing science education would be more widespread in the population.

"There are links between gliomas and mobile phone use. "

And if you had any science education, you would know that there is a huge difference between correlation and causation.

"If it was so crack pot why are Lloyds insuring against it?"

Because they are a business Hmm If people want to give their money, why would they not take it? Especially when there is practically zero risk that they will have to pay up?

Lloyds also insures against ALIEN ABDUCTION and has even sold over 20,000 policies for it.

To be fair to the OP, this is something that I have been concerned about too, so thank you for posting. It may have been a better to have quoted actual research but the space appeal linked here has numerous links to the research that has been undertaken.

I watched the video here that OP posted here and I think what is being said is very interesting and should be taken seriously. 5g-emf.com/urgent-warning-media-release-ontario-doctors-warn-of-rising-health-care-costs-after-5g-roll-out/?fbclid=IwAR0X8owPF-PELcc-uc4APo1rB_0e7v5Aq-hG8tqCUhbVl29HyQodqXsT1Ss

My limited knowledge of naturopathic nutritional therapy is that along side modern medicine, using diet to optimise ones physical state can be beneficial, it is also a regulated profession.

If nothing else it will make me look a bit closer at my smart and tech devices and analyse whether it is something I should look into further.

Unless you are also a clinically trained and registered dietician you are no more qualified to advise people on health and diet than J Random MNer who can read.

"naturapathic" and "nutritional" have no meaning in terms of enforcible quality of "treatment".
