Daily pressure headaches

I have been having daily (everyday) pressure headaches that don't ease with painkillers for the last 2.5 weeks. I am going to be making a gp appointment but just wondered if anyone had experienced this and what it turned out to be. The headache feels like when you bend over and get pressure in your head. A cool compress on my forehead helps it a lot but when removed the headache is still there. Exercise helps it, it is always gone in the morning but returns during the day

Ah so I'm not sure what this would be - but I'm interested as I know someone with the same prob and hadn't seen the GP yet! Migraines, stress?!

Google chronic tension headache and see if you think it matches your symptoms. I feel like it does but would never tell you that's definitely what you have over the Internet. I suffer from them, what relieves mine is darkness, quietness, lying down. Occasionally when it's a milder one painkillers will help but the more severe ones darkness/quietness seems to work the best.

Sounds like a sinus headache..I get them and they're awful. They are horrid when you bend over. Go to the chemist & ask for Sudafed. Thanks

Where is it on your head? Top, around the sides like a band or at the back

Often the top is relayed to blood pressure (high)
Band around edges tension
And back is eyesight
Front can be migraines

But you need definitely to go to the doctor. You could be suffering cluster headaches which need treatment with high flow oxygen.

Could be sinusitis. I have it at the moment.

DH had these and it turned out to be his sinuses.

Thanks all. It is the front on my actual forehead. Strangely after 2 weeks of these headaches being very severe and daily, I did not have one today. I have been extremely stressed recently however the headaches began once the stress has lessened.

Hi all, headaches back with a vengeance this week. There is no cure other than running. They start everyday mid morning and get progressively worse all afternoon. Sometimes it feels like my head is going to burst. I have been googling and chronic tension headaches seems like it could be it

Just to update, went to the GP today who also doesn't know what this is. He has asked me to do daily decongesting in case it is my sinuses. I don't think it is sinuses as have not had any sort of cold or virus. Headaches still persisting

Could you be in peri-menopause? Headaches just as you describe were one of my main issues until I started HRT.

I’ve had headaches for years. Mine were stress related but also made worse by clenching my jaws at night and when stressed (bruxism). I have tooth damage from it which is a give away. I also have high blood pressure, which doesn’t help either!

Exercise has been my tonic, as well as cutting out caffeine and rehydration tabs after exercise. And reducing excess salt and general crap in my diet. I had maxalt melts (prescribed) but they’re not for daily headaches. They’re for sporadic migraines. Overuse can reverse their effect. I haven’t needed them for a couple of years.

But it is a case of excluding stuff until you find what works for you, which it sounds like what you’re embarking upon.

Best of luck! I (literally) feel your pain.

I often get pressure across my forehead- like I'm wearing a sweat band. Not sure if that is similar to you but my self diagnosis is that I get them when I'm tired, not just bad night tired but long term tired!

Try a chiropractor. You might have something out of alignment.

Try and get a recommendation for a cranial osteopath. I'm pretty sure MN will tell you they are witch doctors but the results can be instant and amazing. She diagnosed the cause of my 9yo Dd1 migraines. Helped DD2 finally pinpoint some relief for IBS, and sorted out my long term back pain for good. Nothing to lose but money.

I got them too. I had them for 4/5 months. Exactly as you describe. Dr diagnosed tension headaches and prescribed low dose (10 mg ) amitriptyline. I was very sceptical but gave it a go. It has got rid of them and I have had no side effects except sleeping better. Great albeit surprising result. Feel free to private message me.

I tried massage and acupuncture which had limited success and treatment for sinuses which made no difference
