Morning sickness or stomach bug?

Hi everyone
I’m new to mumsnet and new to pregnancy too so I would appreciate any help I could get.

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant , my first ever pregnancy so I have no idea what is normal and what isn’t. I flew home from holiday on Wednesday I felt queasy but nothing that I hadn’t been feeling since week 5 of my pregnancy which was nausea coming and going usually relieved by food. This to me was what I expected morning sickness to feel like and I was functioning.

However Thursday night I ate a big meal and within 1 hour had terrible cramps and diarrhoea. However didn’t feel sick and didn’t think much of it. The next morning within about 1 hour of being awake I felt sick to my stomach , I started having constant diarrhoea and starting dry heaving for minutes at a time however nothing was coming out even though I wish it did.

I was up all night ate dry pasta once but again dry heaved and had diarrhoea .i also felt very hot during the night and had a cold towel over my face... I feel so ill I haven’t left my bed since yesterday morning. My question is surely there’s no way this can be morning sickness alone ? Do you think this is a virus ? Or can morning sickness change in one day and make anyone so ill they can’t move ? Would appreciate any help . I have called my doctor just waiting for hear back

Norovirus is doing the rounds at the moment. It could be that.

Sounds like you might have a bug mixed in with morning sickness.

Mine did escalate pretty quickly - feeling a bit queasy one day, pretty sick for the next couple, sick the next and then being sick multiple times 24/7 within the week, but no stomach issues or fever.

Thank you so much for the replies , I have still kept dry heaving all day and can't keep liquids down. My doctor thinks it's more food posiong than morning sickness and has given me cyclizine? Has anyone ever taken it ? I just want to keep something down :( never felt so awful

Hi everyone
I posted on here last week , I have been back to my doctor who said I am suffering severe gastroenteritis . The diarrhoea only stopped yesterday after 7 days but my stomach hurts and I feel so weak I haven't left my bed much.

I had a scan and the baby is fine thank god :) but I just wondered has anyone had food poisoning while pregnant and if so how long did it take you to feel back to normal ? I've never felt so ill for such a long time before. I can't even tell what's pregnancy and what's virus.

The doctor prescribed me metoclopramide just I could keep some food down . But I feel so low and haven't been able to go back to work yet :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
