I have posted before and I have a diagnosed eye conditions. It runs in my family and it is Maacular Degeneration. Mine is not the fast growing kind but lately it has become a bit more of an issue so I went to the optician. I have reading glasses and I find that they are not strong enough so I used a magnifying glass to make the computer letters larger especially for work. . I had an eye test today and the optomertrist said he could not increase the strength of my reading glasses because when you read with glasses you hold whatever you are reading at a certain distance and if the lenses were made stronger then I would have to compensate by holding things very close to my face in order to see. I do not understand this so he said continue using the glasses you have and use a magnifying glass. I would feel embarrassed using a magnifying glass at work. I am fine at the moment typing this and wearing no glasses.

I'm no optician or medic, so don't understand what you have been told, but surely it would be more sensible to increase the font size on your computer than somehow be looking through a magnifying glass ?

Assuming you have windows 10 on your work computer there are a range of accessibility features built in to help with visual impairments.

This should be better than using a magnifying glass and give you a better view.

Reading glasses generally aren't great for computer use and the visual acuity that you lose with macular degeneration is not well corrected by any glasses.

I had a retina detachment due to a congenital defect, which caused macular damage, prior to the detachment I had a prescription for shortsightedness which I still have but the damage means even with the glasses I have very little peripheral vision in that eye and what I can see is fuzzy. Luckily my other eye compensates.

Is it not possible to have a whole screen magnifier for your computer?
