Does anyone else suffer with this? Endless antibiocts and trips to breast unit to be told they can't do anything.

It just came on out of the blue. I've had recurring problems with the same area becoming inflamed. Surgeon said if they operated it doesn't have any positive outcome. I don't smoke and they can't pinpoint why it's happening. It's been discharging pus now for a week after antibotics. Seriously don't know what to do

Thank you. I just wish there was a solution. I'm that fed up with it I'd be happier without the breast

I had a problem with this too, breastfed 5 children without a single episode of mastitis and then I get ducal mastitis two years running.
The first time I got it they did a core biopsy and I needed 10 weeks of antibiotics, the second bout a year later it turned to an abscess that burst and I needed 14 weeks of antibiotics with that one, they also did a needle aspiration as there was a pocket of fluid left after infection had cleared.
Consultant said if it happened again they could offer surgery to remove ducts but said it wasn’t always successful so they tried to avoid.
I was told it was more common in smokers but I have never smoked.
I think it is 7 years since the last episode now.

I had two change antibiotics a couple of times as discharge got worse, have you had swabs done?
