Sense of impending doom... when lying down.

I feel as if I’m going a bit odd. Something is going on with my blood pressure, raised but not crazy, and last week I was suddenly low in potassium.

I’m having an appt with GP tomorrow, which is fine, but I realised today that since a couple of days before I first felt unwell, I’ve had this weird sense that something really awful is going to happen.

It always happens when I’m lying down, on my left side, and it’s freaking me out. It’s so specific, when it happens, but the dread isn’t about my health especially... the only way I can describe is that feeling when you wake up after something like a bereavement, and you immediately know something is awful, even before you can remember what the cause is. Does that make any sense?

Anyway, right now this is worrying me more than anything physical, and I’m wondering if it’s actually a symptom of ill health???

Sleeping position can affect the heart's rate or rhythm, especially lying on left side.
My heart rate gets really slow if I turn onto my left side in my sleep. I wake up suddenly feeling something terrible is about to happen. Am fine once I turn onto my back.
Google "lying on left side heart" to find out why this happens.

Can't diagnose symptoms over the internet. It's good you're seeing your GP tomorrow. Tell the GP everything.

Thanks so much for your response biccies - I have looked that up - obviously very unlikely, but glad to know what needs ruling out.

Skippy, I KNOW that the internet isn’t the best idea, but given that I feel SO unwell, and terrified, I’d rather have an aim.

Slarti - I’ve always slept on my left so this is a new symptom, but I’m sure the gp will tell me if something has changed? Thank you!

Just needed to come back and say thank you to @6000choccybiccies .

I went to the doctors, even though I felt ridiculous, and she took it very seriously. I now have to collect pee for 24 hoursBlush but anyway, whether or not it's a tumour, I will be forever grateful that I asked MN, you answered, and gave me the confidence to do something about it.

Cheers, and have these - FlowersGin
