Depending on your autoimmune condition, sulfa based antibiotics are not clever. I once took trimethoprim, and I thought I was seriously I'll, coordination gone, shaking, feeling dreadful. I have sle btw, if you have similar, avoid sulfa based antibiotics GPs are never aware. Hope you feel better soon. X

Last time I reacted to the first two antibiotics, then I was ok with the third.

I will ring then. There is a Gp thing at the nearest hospital but it is an hour away. There might be an out of hours somewhere closer ( rural) .

Drinking plenty will help but you're likely to need antibiotics to knock it on the head. I've never had back ache with a uti before so would probably ring OOH doc rather than leave it for an emergency GP appt tomorrow.
Tell them you had an allergic reaction previuosly and they'll give you something different

If you're prone to complications and feeling unwell then yes I would call 111 and make an out of hours appointment. There are different antibiotics that can be tried if you're allergic to one type.

Hope you feel better soon.

Woke up with everything hurting and just generally feeling rough. I have an auto immune condition, so thought maybe a flare-up. Anyway my back has been aching all day and I realised that bladder is a bit twingey, it doesn’t hurt to wee though. I have just done a dip, as I have sticks in the house, and it looks as though it is a UTI.
I am terrified of a kidney infection as I had one seven years ago and I have never been so ill. What should I do, ring out of hours ? Would like to avoid antibiotics if possible as last time I had an allergic reaction.
Lots of water ? Cranberry juice ? Anything else ?
