Possible spider bite

This appeared on DH calf this morning. He has no memory of knocking himself to cause a bruise and it's totally painless. The white round bit in the middle is very hard and feels like a definite lump inside.

Could this be a spider bite? I'm pretty certain it's not a tick bite. We do have dogs and walk through woods most days and he did mow the lawn on Sunday but obviously it could be from anywhere.

No. I live in Oz where spider bites (from non poisonous spiders) are pretty common and they don't look like that. If there's a bite, you should see the puncture marks. Two of them.

I would keep an eye on it if he has no memory of knocking it. Unexplained bruises should be watched. If he has any others pop up, see the doctor.

I can see two black puncture marks (unless they are freckles), exactly what DS has on his nose after a school trip to an activity centre. It's still red and swollen a week later
