pigmented patches on whites of eye

I noticed a couple of very light brown pigmented patches on the white of my left eye a while back and didn't think anything of it. You can't see either unless you pull down my lower eye lid iyswim. They are both small, less than 5mm and very light brown, almost tan, in colour. For some reason I've become worried about them and stupidly googled. I have an optician appointment next week - haven't been to an optician since I was a kid and I'm now 37! Always had 20/20 vision. Does anyone else have anything like this?

It's likely to be epithelial melanosis, which is more common in dark-skinned people.
It does need checking and photographing to monitor for changes (both of which the optometrist can do for you). Ask them to take one of the photos on your phone too so you can access it easily for subsequent eye exams.
