Pneumonia - help on further steps needed

Hi all,

My Mother has been suffering with Pneumonia for a few months now. She has been on antibiotics and was recently re-admitted to hospital to have a blood transfusion. It really feels like she is not making any progress - she was given new antibiotics in hospital and has just finished this course with no change.

We are now looking at other options and whilst we've never had money to look at Private Healthcare we are considering if there needs to be someone taking a better look at this.

I wondered if anyone had any advice on seeking a good doctor, or a recommendation. When I Google it's hard to tell who is best and which seem more like a con...

Thank you for any help. It's appreciated.

Can you ask for a second opinion?

Failing that, Spire Healthcare are excellent. DH had an op there on his knee a few years ago, our GP recommended the consultant as DH would have waited about 6 months on the NHS. He saw the consultant privately and had the op 3 days later.

Maybe contact them? The last consultant I saw privately there cost £280 for a 30 minute appointment / assessment although it may vary due to specialties.

Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping to find a very specialist lung-related place if it's possible. Particularly if anyone has had any personal experience of particular doctors
