Hi
Have just been quoted £1150 for zirconium crown (with post). Includes post fit/crown preparation/impressions and the Zirconium crown.
Seems pretty expensive.
Anyone had one fitted recently?
Thanks.

I think my dentist charges about the same but I have a membership whereby I pay £16 a month for 2 X check ups and 2 X hygienist visits and I get 10% off all treatments.

It sounds about right to be honest.

Mine was inherited! Just saying, crowns are family heirlooms in our family. I keep mine in the downstairs loo.

What do you mean, "with post"? is this actually an implant?

I paid something under £600 for a crown last year - all done in one day with the crown made at the dental surgery. But no post was involved. They simply filed the tooth down and fitted the crown over the tooth stub.

I paid £750 for a solid gold one on my back tooth last year ( and I thought that was expensive!). Unfortunately it had to be gold because of the wear and tear on a back tooth- I hate it!

I’ve paid similar for a very large crown with very expensive private dentist.
I also have an nhs crown that came under band 3 so atound £250 (was a good few years ago)

The difference is the quality of materials. The nhs crown is fine and does it job, but the other crown is in a more visible place, so I wanted something that I knew would blend in with my other teeth.

The other thing was I was quite shocked with how much of my actual tooth was filed away to fit the nhs crown - I was left with just a stump! The private dentist I chose doesn’t destroy any healthy parts of the. tooth. The crown was made from a much thinner material so my tooth didn’t need to be filed.

That's not just a crown though

Your also have a post and core build up, which costs on top of the crown price. So there's 2 treatments involved in your price

550 euros this year. Expensive place in Spain. It was a right pain.

They had to send away the mold to get a technical place to make it. I had a temporary crown in the meantime. It was special new material they use now. It looks like a real tooth when finished.

Took 4 trips, I got so fed up in the end. They killed the nerves first as I had awful toothache. Half my back tooth had chipped off due to an old 70's 'fill and bill' NHS cheap filling which basically had weakened the tooth over years and years.

Thank God only filling I ever had done.

It is horrifically expensive having a crown.
