I'm just looking for some reassurance I think but can anyone help calm me down ?
My Blood pressure has always been really low . I'm on HRT patches and also take a diuretic for a chronic problem - stable so been asked to reduce . Not keen but trying . I'm the last month since reducing my diuretic I've been having some strange head weirdness and dizziness . My partner has a BP machine and suggested I took mine when I have the strange feeling in my head and every time I do it it's 135-140/90 ish , once higher. Now I am fully aware that the pressure of 140/90 isn't off the scale but I'm used to having a pressure of 105/70 so this is a big shock to me.
I feel like my blood pressure is creeping up for some reason- possibly stopping my medication which I take for brain pressure not blood pressure.
I feel a bit stupid going to the doctor and I'm wondering if some of it could be anxiety. I tend to get the head pressure when I'm up and about doing things or at work. When I take my blood pressure first thing in the morning or last thing at night when I'm relaxed it's slower. Can anyone tell me what this all means and whether I should go to the GP?

Also a little bit worried it could be the HRT patches.

My optician called me today after an eye test last week, to tell me that my eye photos look like I have high blood pressure. I just checked it with the kit I bought donkey's years ago when I was having a bout of health anxiety. According to my old notepad in there, from 2011, I was always around 120/75 ish, and now tonight I'm 147/87 and obviously I'm going to have a stroke by Christmas.

I too have had really low blood pressure all my life.. however recently i got my local pharmacy to measure it as my palpitations were ridiculous one day, it was exactly the same as Shinys - 147/87.
GP put me on an ECG machine same day as my DF died of a heart attack at 36, all was well..
Blood tests were okay (thyroid, blood cell count, kidney function etc) and i was told it's stress (cue big lecture from GP) so don't panic, it could very easily be connected to your anxiety, but maybe see your GP to rule other things out OP.

I'm hoping mine is stress related, as that's more easily fixable for me. I'm conscious that work is bedlam at the moment, and that will and can calm down.

It's far less fun if it's related to the fact that I'm overweight and inactive and love eating things containing butter and cheese, and drinking wine. If I have to change those things then I'm not happy.

It's totally ok to have concerns, esp living with a chronic condition, your symptoms sound like you need to return to your GP and please don't feel sheepish about it, if it turns out to be anxiety as opposed to physiological then they can help you deal with that too... anxiety should be treated like any other medical issue...
HRT will come with many side effects so it's reasonable to assume these could be them, but stay away from Dr Google and seek professional advice, blood pressure can be a early warning sign so best to get it checked... really hope you feel better soon and the outcome has a simple solution. X

Please check it out with your GP. Any big shift in blood pressure should be double checked, especially given your history of high brain pressure

Thanks all - went to GP and have to do a weeks BP then take in . Thank you all for your kind comments. Probably just anxiety as when I am really relaxed it does seem to be lower ! Hopefully nothing to worry about
