Experiences with warts please help

Can I please start by explaining that I suffer with anxiety issues and have cycles of excessive worry. So please be nice, I’m am very aware there are much much bigger problems in the world but I would just like to put my mind at rest a little.

My child has what looks like a wart on their finger. We noticed yesterday.
I know you’re supposed to leave them alone if they are not bothering you but that they are also contagious.

I’ve read all sorts online from “use separate towels and flannels” right through to bleach the bath/shower after EVERY use.

My worry is it spreading, especially worried about the face and passing it to siblings.

How cautious do I need to be? My children love to cuddle and snuggle in bed for stories, I usually bath them together and they’re always holding hands. Does all this lovely ness need to stop?

One pharmacist put my mind at rest a bit by saying, yes they’re contagious but other than using different towels not to worry too much. Just live our lives like normal.
Another one said to cover it with a plaster if my children are playing or snuggling together.

I know I sound like a crazy person being this obsessed over a wart. But surely people don’t live their lives shadowing their children marking sure they don’t accidentally use the same hand towel

i personally cover a wart with a little piece of duct tape, just enough to cover it. it then can't spread and it clears up quickly

If you have a wart on your foot (a verucca) you would treat it till it goes away, so why would you not treat one on your hand? Sorry that isn't much help but I would want to get rid of it.

I had quite a few warts on my hands as a child and they never spread either to my siblings, friends or to anywhere else on me.

O/P please don't worry. 2 of my 3 kids have had them at various points. They never spread. I got rid of them pretty quickly by painting them with salicylic acid (from ebay) and the filing very gently with an emery board. Then covered with a plaster overnight and both times they've just fallen off within a couple of weeks.

DS had a wart on his finger for absolutely ages. He has ADHD and dyspraxia, and it’s difficult to manage him in just a basic way - there’s absolutely no way I would have been able to monitor the wart in a foolproof way, so I just left it. We do use separate towels anyway.

I made him an appointment at the wart clinic at our GP, where the nurse froze it. It took a couple of months to get the appointment. The wart did not spread. A month or so after the clinic (waiting for a follow-up appointment), I noticed it was gone.

Experiences vary, of course - but it’s not like something along the lines of worms or lice, where ignoring is never ok and almost certainly leads to a dramatically worse situation.

Warts are a virus so less common to spread.
I had lots on my hands a kid and literally they went overnight.
It might however be worth seeking the help of a naturopath who would recommend 'supplements' to boost your child's immune system. This way they can fight the virus and the warts will go away.
