Awaiting MRI results. Advice needed.

I had an MRI and blood tests last month and I’m awaiting the results which I’ll have by Thursday this week. My symptoms were sporadic blurred vision not made better when glasses (minor prescription) were worn, general concentration issues and, scarily, sudden loss of memory (for instance not being able to remember my DS birth date when asked or ability to drive).

In the last week or so I’ve been experiencing headaches. I don’t typically suffer from headaches.

My post is to ask, if anyone has had similar symptoms and what the diagnosis was, if any. I’m starting to worry that all may not be quite right and I may have bad news coming. There’s also part of me that feels as though the arrival of these headaches could be physiological. If it was something serious, would the NHS have sped up treatment?

Im very sorry you're going through this OP. Waiting for results is just awful. This year my daughter had an MRI as a possible query re cancer and it scared the fucking life out of me. I think all you can do is hang on and wait - DO NOT turn to Dr Google it will only confirm your most dark fears. Try to keep busy in the next couple of days and try not to go down a rabbit hole of scary thoughts. I wish you the best of luck for a good result.

Oh, my daughter was fine btw (well some bone issues that needed treating but nothing that I had feared).

I was in a similar situation last year. After a CT they ordered a MRI. Panick station I had to wait a further 6 weeks for it, then when I had it done I had a letter quite quickly asking me to see my GP. Well you can imagine my anxiety level went through the roof! And in the end it was nothing sinister! Just an unpleasant few weeks. Hope all will be OK with you.

Another one here saying don't google it! I speak from bitter experience, you'll end up down a google hole and reading about all kinds of things unnecessarily.

I can offer my perspective... I've had similar situation with an MRI and I did receive a diagnosis that I was initially very worried about. However, the fear of the results and diagnosis was much worse than the actual reality! You are in great hands with the NHS, you are in the system now and despite the pressure the NHS is under you will receive world class treatment. You could have have little or nothing wrong, or you will get the care you need so try to see both positives.

Lots of love, it's hard I knowThanks

Thank you all so much for your support. I’m sorry to hear that each of you have had experience with waiting for results be it for yourselves or a family member.

@Inthemoment38 it sounds as though it was really scary to receive that letter and I’m hoping you’re ok now?

I think the main things they wish to rule out are a brain tumour, MS or an autoimmune condition (my neurologist seemed to think this would be thrown up in the bloods) but now I’m only a day away I think I’ll just have to wait and see. I’m probably panicking over nothing.

Sending love to you all Flowers

Thanks so much for all your support. When I met with the neurologist, to my surprise, all the tests were clear. There is one that is still to come back (blood test) but it would be entirely manageable.

I can’t thank you all enough for your responses. I’d managed to get extremely anxious.
