Could a GP prescribe something to improve my immune system? Immunosuppressed after sepsis

I'm severely immunosuppressed since battling sepsis from invasive group A streptocci at the end of April.

I've had cold after virus after bug with barely a full week between each. Most recently, I've been unwell for a three weeks with a throat infection that turned into a cold and now some other viral thing with weird symptoms of exhaustion and swollen glands.

I'm doing everything I should be doing, eating well and taking vitamins, but nothing is helping. It's really starting to have a detrimental effect on my mental health Sad

My therapist who was a nurse beforehand says it's to be expected and will improve in time but I can't take much more of this. I have a toddler and a baby to look after.

Going to book an appointment with my GP but I was wondering if anybody knows if they'll actually be able to prescribe something that I'm unable to get in the shops?

No amount of eating well, resting and taking vitamins is helping.

I don't want to accept that I'll be stuck like this for months/years to come Sad

Why not asking to be referred to an Immunologist at the hospital? It is Specialist Care so you might have to travel further, but you can then be assessed and receive appropriate treatment. There are a number of drugs that can be prescribed and immunoglobulin can be given intravenously, but you would obviously need to be assessed first.

Thank you swing, that's really very helpful because I had no idea such things were available. Im going to make an appointment with the GP and will request a referral to an immunologist

It's worth exploring but the most likely culprits are the baby and toddler. I was exactly the same when my daughter was small. I think it's a combination of sleep deprivation and being around little germ factories.

Yes I do think that's a big contributor for me too euro. Fortunately the children seem to have good immunities and the bugs that get me don't bother them but unfortunately for me they write me off Sad
