FAB TITLE BY FMF (AND BBB)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Bye, have a nice time, I expect you will eat lovely food Why do I always think about the food. Note to self, there are other joys, like culture, yes, there will be lots of culture and art and galleries etc. Ages since I've been to London, went to a book launch there a year ago in silly heels. We don't have that many galleries here, well, the Sainsbury's centre but ANYWAY..

I have had melon, strawbs, banana, kiwi and pear but not whole portions.

oh god filthy - wasn't passing your titles off as my own - I once called NQC 'not quite apples and pears' but did not know it was your thread title.

Oh god am feeling all paranoid that you hate me in your wiley way.

BBBee you've been downing expressos again, it can make you paranoid - have you ever seen that episode of Black Books when Mannie gets an expresso machine and some Sweenie DVDs for his birthday and he stays up all night drinking coffee and watching them, then in the morning he thinks he's a detective and chases a bag thief? It's really very funny - oh, and when he falls of his chair! hahahahahah!

House Guest just went home. (single male house guest who doesnt' like children )

Actually, near the end, i think he was a little bit charmed. Last night i came into the sitting room to find dd2 curled up on his knee drinking her milk, and he was reading a book about scabs, and doing all the voices and stuff - and when i carried her up to bed he looked a tiny bit sad. RESULT.

MrsCarrot · 12/08/2007 11:50

oooh, a book about scabs, who's it by, Boco, DD is gascinated by them at the moment? Her drama teacher asked her if she would leave her rather large one out for the scab fairy, so she did, and of course we had to comply then and leave 50p for said scab. She was most upset when one fell off in the park on the bark chippings, completely camouflaged.

Report
Boco · 12/08/2007 12:00

It's called 'All About Scabs' by Genichiro Yagyu. DD1 is fascinated - it explains how scabs are formed and why, with quite retro and silly pictures.

Like the Claire Raynor body book?

I love Scrabble and scabs. (see, see I do belong after all).

Oh well done Houseguest. We are about to go out to lunch with people we don't really know, who have one small baby. I said 'are you sure you mean you want to have ALL of us for lunch in your flat?' 'Oh yes' she said airily, 'There are lots of people coming.'

Hmmm. I've got a feeling this is going to be one of those 'person with baby who doesn't get older kids' moments. Am dreading it. I don't why she asked us. I wanted to say to her 'You know it isn't 1935 anymore, they don't sit quietly and listen to the grown-ups talk for hours on end, and fiddle with things under the table.'

Or is it just mine?

Report
MrsCarrot · 12/08/2007 13:13

No, not just yours, 100, mine are fairly well behaved but in a small flat, 3 children just seem noisy I think. Well, you'll know if you get invited back again . We are going to stay in Edinburgh with good friends who only have one baby but they love us and our children so it will be fine. It made me laugh when you said your ds hangs upside down, mine has to listen to Harry Potter on a particular end of the sofa, upside down Hope I'm not cultivating an OCD offshoot.

Wow, hope lunch went well 100x, that does sound like a challenge. I don't know many small children who would sit quietly. Most people these days understand that - although older people have all forgotten. I find lunch with my grandparents tough - they're in their 80's and never stop being utterly outraged by poor table manners. A 2 year old wandering off mid pudding etc, they shake their fingers at them and say 'you are a very naughty girl!'. Very tense.

I've eaten a banana and a nectarine - going to have a selection of homegrown vegetables for supper though [smug]

Oh come on Avi, we're all friends here! I had a particularly graphic mooncup discussion when i first got one. 100x loves talking about periods, and she hasn't got a mooncup yet, perhaps we could persuade her.

Mooncups are marvellous.
So far, half a bulb of fennel and some plums. About to have tortilla (do the potatoes and onions count?) with cucumber salad. This thread is making me perservere, although I really would like to fall face first into a cake.
Lucky F&Z, I too am seeeething with envy. Hope she has a lovely time.

Made fabulous soup with onion, garlic, carrot, turnip, courgette, red pepper, tomatoes, lentils, potato and fresh coriander.

Have had 2 sets of visitors today which is more than we normally have in a month or more. Most odd. Lovely to see them all though.

Apparently you can wipe it out with a tissue and wash it properly next time or rinse it out with a bottle of water conveniently stowed in your handbag. (I assume this is a mooncup question?!)

Report
pinkspottywellies · 12/08/2007 20:08

Also seething with envy, Franny.
Dried apricots, peanut butter, tiny bit of banana, half a plum, tomato in a sandwich, tomato pasta sauce, small slice of leftover courgette fritatta. Probably about 2 portions today in total! Haven't had a good week -I think I need boot camp, or perhaps you lot could shout at me. Actually being on this thread helps because I will now go and have an apple instead of ice cream!

Report
pinkspottywellies · 12/08/2007 20:11

Well I mean apple before ice cream obviously! Instead would be ridiculous

Report
ahundredtimes · 12/08/2007 20:15

Oh are on those mooncups again? What with the cleaning and the getting them in, they do seem a bit of a performance

Lunch was a success. I forget that for all the screaming and carry-on here they CAN turn it on. They were heroic. DS1 particularly fared well discussing 'history' with very patient historian person. I was complimented, they were bribed = everyone happy.

In fact they were freakily good. Freaky little grown-ups in fact. Though in that company was appropriate I suppose.

Phew.

Tomatoes, courgettes, rocket, green beans, carrots, apple, nectarine.

boco - for some reason (the main one being I am a bit of a wanker) is that my face book is under my first name and my middle name - my middle name is rose.

Okay - will read thread and stop blahing on about facebook as must be dull and is certainly not fruit and vegetables.

TT - your soup sounds a strange root and summer vegetable combination. Glad it worked - my things like that oftren end up down the sink.

Mooncups are great - don't know if I could brave it camping though. In public just empty it, wipe it and put it back - is fine.

Oh I have done so well today.

Had huge salad lunch then lovely BBQ with loads of salad and vegetable kebabs and baked bananas and ice cream fro pudding. I think for the first time since I joine dthis thread I have made my ten today.

Report
BBBee · 12/08/2007 20:24

(to clarify I am talking about emptying mooncups in public toilets not in public e.g. in the queue at tesco)

Report
ahundredtimes · 12/08/2007 20:43

You see, it's going to be a perfectly discreet decent conversation about mooncups and then before you know it it's all with the wiping and pouring it all over Tescos.

Will be the Mooncup Monologues next.
