Mirena - keep or get rid?

I’m 43 and have been on the pill -> depo injection -> now mirena coil since my late teens. So I’ve basically never really had periods.

I believe the coil drove my libido into the floor, then kept digging, which has been awful! I also struggle with losing weight - which may or may not be related to mirena?

When I did have periods, I remember horrendous cramps and proper projectile vomiting.
Now (on mirena), I get very tender/swollen breasts and intense backache anyway, just not the actual bleeding. It all feels a bit lose:lose!

So I’m weighing up having it removed.
My potential partner is same age as me and had a vasectomy years ago. Neither of us want children, which is the obvious risk (although condoms etc)

What do MNers think/any experiences?

How long has it been in? I found it took 6 months for everything to settle down. After that, no periods, no tender breasts, no mood swings and no weight gain.

I'm hypothyroid so weight loss is tough anyway but my weight has been pretty stable for the last 8 years of using the Morena coil.

Good few years now Sad
Its not so much that I gained weight, just that I find it hard to lose any, and given my lifestyle/diet, it should be coming off. I had some blood tests a while back and they all came back normal, so no thryoid or other issues there either.
