Any dentists able to offer advice

On wednesday I had the first half of a root canal. Tooth was drilled, antibiotic gel put in and a temporary filling fitting. Thursday started with a dull ache. Since Friday it's got progressively worse. Taken over counter tablets every 4 hours and haven't slept more than 2 hours at a time due to the pain. My face appears swollen and even with the taken tablets the pain never goes away. I also cant eat as biting down causes shooting pains. Is this normal or would it be okay to phone emergency dentist. Not sure I can last until my dentist opens 2moz.

Ooh I feel for you. Coincidentally I was due to have a root canal on Friday but the teeth has split in two and must now be extracted. So I'm particularly sympathetic to people with tooth ache at the moment!

I definitely think you need to phone emergency dentist or failing that 111 for advice. It sounds like it's infected and the antibiotics haven't cut it.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I ended up phoning the emergency dentist. Who had prescribed some antibiotics to take for the next 7 days. I'm hoping the pain lifts quickly. Tooth ache really is hell and no sleep with a 3 year old is no fun. Hope your not in to much pain with your tooth.

Good I'm glad you've got antibiotics and hope they kick in soon.

Thanks for asking about my tooth. It doesn't hurt, surprisingly, but it's now jagged and my tongue won't leave it alone. Hmm Agony.
