Anyone got any idea what this is?

It’s in my ear and is white and hard so definitely not an abscess. I’m booked in with the nurse practitioner on Tuesday but it’s driving me insane- not sore just makes my ear feel huge

Anyone got any idea what this is?

The top of a cotton bud left to fester?

Report
2girlsandagap · 14/09/2019 22:52

No- I’m a picker but I’ve never used cotton buds in my ear. Dh said it looks like exposed cartilage. I don’t know whether to go to the walk in in the morning and just have it checked- tbh the compulsion to pick it is becoming overwhelming

Alien egg?

Sorry, not helpful. Definitely ask the nurse Flowers

Hmm, it could be surfer's ear? They're bony growths (benign!) which are often caused by exposure to cold water (hence the name).

Cholesteatoma?

I’m hoping it’s something easily fixed that feels amazing when it’s pulled out. Dh has had to remove tweezers, Kirkby grip and a bic pen top from my vicinity as apparently my picking fetish is worse than I thought

Looks like a massive blackhead ready to burst. Have you tried warm water on it?

Report
Tigger001 · 15/09/2019 00:48

I'm sorry but the tweezers would be well and truly out and in the ear, just to see what happens if I gave it a gentle pull. Obviously not recommended but I just wouldn't be able to help myself

Is it sore ?

Keep us posted when you find out

Is that a foreign body or a bit of you??? Does it wiggle if you touch it?

Report
2girlsandagap · 15/09/2019 08:42

Not a foreign body. It’s hard. Seems to have appeared over the last few days

It was super boring in the end- slight inflammation of the ear canal. Got some drops and no popping or anything juicy occurred

Of course I'm glad for you OP but very disappointed at the lack of some kind of pus draining abcess etc. GrinHope it clears up soon.

2girlsandagap · 17/09/2019 17:35

@pennow Me too strangely. I’ve spent the weekend looking forward to a really satisfying draining or a thorough ear syringing at the very least. This has been the most catfishy disappointment of a lump I’ve ever produced.
