Ovary Pain

Benn getting normal ovulation pain for years. But it is getting worse and happening outside of ovulation time.

I had a private health check the day before my period and on palpitation over my left ovary, it was really tender. I was advised to see my GP for a scan within a few months as it was the day before my period was due rather than during ovulation.

That was a few months ago.

I finished my period 10 days ago but for the last week it is very noticeable. Last night it woke me radiating down my leg and lower back ache.

My boobs have also been hurting for a week, and were very painful during my last period.

I can not get GP appointment. All I want is to be referred back to private but they wont refer without a pelvis examination. The GP on the phone spoke down to me as if it was part of my cycle. It could well be but it happens anytime in my cycle.

You can call nearly 100 times to be told you are too late and call again tomorrow. I leave for work at 0620 so cant physically queue up on the off chance.

Bit worried! I'm sure it must be hormonal but I am still worried.

I am 41. My mother and grandmother both had early menopause. My grandmother had womb cancer. My family have a history of endometriosis.

In the long term I think you should move GP surgery as that’s appalling. Our surgery has almost 20,000 patients registered and I’ve never been refused a same day appointment.

Anyway I’m not sure what you can do if you can’t get an appointment. You need to be seen urgently based on what you’ve put so I think you need to just be persistent with them. Or could you get a private GP appt? Not that you should have to.

Yep, I would change surgeries too OP. I've got something similar going on, severe pain in my right ovary, but mine is only happening during my period. Have had one scan (18 months ago) which showed nothing and then had a few months with no pain but it's started up again now so GP has referred me for another scan which I suspect will also show nothing. I'm pretty sure it's endo so will see what GP suggests after the scan.

You're right though, you do need to be seen and changing surgeries is probably your best option. You could ask to speak to the practice manager at your current surgery I suppose, I don't know whether they could suggest a way round their appointment system that might work for you, it really isn't good enough that you can't get in at all. But changing surgeries might just be easier I suspect.

The GP on the phone also said I had to see a female GP for the examination, this limits the availability even more. I dont care who I see, i just want a referral.

Just had a scout of the reviews of the other surgeries and all saying the same, can't get appointments. My nearest private GP is an hour away.

I will WFH Monday and queue up. If no luck , I'll book private. £100 for 15 minutes!

I'm worried now! It is throbbing.

Hiding, do you have boob pain? My feels like pregnancy boobs. Been consistent for a week so far. This is what makes me think hormonal. But now I keep thinking cancer!

It’s probably a cyst. But still needs checking. My cyst caused all sorts of odd symptoms.

No, no boob pain in my case, just excruciating pain in my ovary for the first couple of days of my period. Your area sounds horrendous for appointments, I think I would ring and ask to speak to the practice manager. Explain the problems you're having and how worried you are and see if they can advise anything to help you get an appointment. They need to know if their systems are preventing people getting seen, I know everywhere is overstretched but some emergency appointments are always available and they need to know if their system is stopping people accessing them.

I would also look into changing GP surgeries.

Endometriosis cannot be ruled out here and there is a family history of this also. I used to get very similar symptoms and in my case the cause was endometriosis. (the pain down the leg was the sciatic nerve becoming involved due to endo).

Re scans - anything done over 6 months ago should be discounted.
Internal ultrasound scans as well do not readily detect endo if it is there, you ideally need a laparoscopy.

Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked thoroughly to see if endometriosis is present. I would also keep a daily pain/symptom diary particularly if you do not already do this.

Finally have an ultrasound booked for next week! The GP could identify exactly where the pain was without asking if it was hurting. Very low down in pelvis area. Wasn't hurting as much until she prodded around, set it off again.

Am a little nervous although she thinks a cyst. She was much nicer than the male GP.

I've created a diary too. I know many females in my family had to really push for endo to be taken seriously.

Now I'm starting to freak out as I've started to bleed mid cycle. And I've just read another thread.

Don’t freak out. Most probable cause is the start of menopause - not sure if early menopause runs in families but you said others in your family have had it so it could be the reason for the mid cycle bleed. Try not to worry and think the worst! It’s great news you already have a scan booked so that will hopefully give you some answers.

I feel like I can feel something on my left side, not by pushing but just can feel something there inside me.
