Hi all, I feel dreadful writing this but here goes.
DP is 40 and over the past few weeks I have noticed that he is not smelling as fresh as he normally does and I have noticed quite a strong sulphuric smell. He exercises most days at the local gym, eats well and doesn't smoke. He is a social drinker but that is quite rare these days with the DCs. He tends to just drink coffee amd water in the day. However he sleeps on his back and breathes through his mouth at night. Good old Google tells me that the mouth breathing and possibly exercising can contribute towards halitosis with dry mouth. He has been to the dentist very recently for a chipped tooth so if he had anything wrong then surely his dentist would have noticed. I have seen ads for CB12, Ultradex and The Breath Co mouthwashes and toothpastes but they are expensive, and although willing to try them, I was wondering if anyone had ever use them and if they are effective? I thought I would just pop them in the bathroom cabinet in place of our usual ones and see if they make a difference without having to resort to hurting his feelings.

I would definitely want to know if it was me that smelt. I had to tell dd in the past, it was caused by not drinking enough. Please let him know.

I was thinking the same when my DS had bad breath dentist said he was dehydrated and needed to drink more. Very rarely is bad breath caused by poor oral hygiene but he may possibly have oral thrush? I think a trip to dentist to check for anything a miss and then see what they advise if upping the fluids doesn't help. My husband is a serious (10 cups plus a day) coffee drinker and his breath makes my eye smart at times !!!

Diet4eva / TellySavalashairbrush - I had wondered if coffee was a contributing factor. I hate the smell of coffee and at times I have handed him a drink of water and a mint and told him I can smell coffee so he has taken the hint that way before. That does not offend him but if I told him I can smell rotten eggs from across the room then that would be a different story and as much as I want to say something, I know he will be really upset.

Hereforasillygoosetime- yes he brushes and flosses daily and uses mouth wash.

You could try a course of 2 weeks of yakult if he will take it - sometimes it's a gut imbalance that make the breath smell. Or there are granules called Bio kult (I think) that you can add to yoghurt or even hot foods . That would also help if it is a thrush like bacteria that's causing the issue
