fissure pain getting me down!

Hi, I'm not a parent so not sure if its appropriate for me to post on here but it seems to be the only place i can relate to so I am just looking for a bit of advice.
A couple of weeks ago I had a lump on my breast that became infected. Didn't actually have a GP but have since registered as this really scared me. I went to the walk in and was prescribed antibiotics for the infection. They cleared up the infection but also gave me diarrhea. I believe I am now suffering from an Anal fissure from this! The pain when going to the toilet was excruciating! I was sweating, in tears and hyperventilating and that was from the smallest bowel movement!
As a result I have been terrified of going to the toilet or even eating much! I having been having warm baths 2 -3 times a day, and using Anusol and coconut oil as well as taking a stool softener.
The pain seemed to go for a few days but now its back! Not as painful as when I first had it but seems to be getting slightly more and more painful each time I go to the toilet so I'm worried its going to return to how it was. Is this normal and just part of the healing process? I've increased the amount of fibre in my diet massively and also the amount of water I drink which I think has definitely helped but why is the pain coming back?

I'm at my wits end at the moment I have been in pain for about 4 weeks now ( I don't know how some people can suffer for so long). Its really getting me down and all I want to do is get back to normal. I'm supposed to be going for a meal in a few days for my birthday but I've told my partner I would rather stay in feeling sorry for myself as I'm not sure one meal will be worth the pain I am sure I am going to have the following day.

Just looking for a bit of advice and encouragement really about whats best to use, average healing time and whether anyone has experienced the pain going for a few days then coming back etc.

Fissures are excruciating, you have my sympathy.
You need to go to the doctor and ask for rectogesic. If that does not help, ask for a referral to a colorectal surgeon and ask for diltiazem (this can only be prescribed by a specialist).

Hot water bottles to sit on are soothing, along with warm baths with epsom salts.

Please go to the GP, these rarely resolve by themselves, it’s a vicious circle- as you are finding out.

Got this after having DD. Absolutely horrendous.

You need to go straight to the doctor. No messing about with diet/ coconut oil will do anything unfortunately. They’ll have to do a quick examination. Then you’ll get some cream on prescription which will sort it out very quickly- probably within a few days!!

Please don’t delay and go now. I suffered for weeks crying in agony when I wish I’d just gone to the doctor straight away. Phone tomorrow for an emergency ap. Flowers

Go to your GP.
I use toddler flushable wipes instead of toilet paper.
A bidet is ideal, but failing that a shower spray after going to the loo.
Avoid constipation if you can, but when it is really sore and itchy, a sitting bath with tea tree oil, patting dry and vaseline works wonders.

Firstly, anyone can post on MN whether parent or not. So welcome Smile
Secondly, I agree with other posters. GP asap and get it treated. No need to suffer.

Is this a self diagnosis? You should go to GP. They may refer you to a colorectal surgeon. As PP diltiazem paste is good (but GP unlikely to prescribe). In meantime you can buy over the counter lignocaine gel (instillagel, or similar) which is a numbing anaesthetic and apply to area.

If it is an anal fissure, you have my sympathy! What worked for me was a nitroglycerin ointment from the doctor. It was instant relief although you do trade bum pain for a rather pounding headache. (I did anyway!) Read up on it and see if the doctor will prescribe it.

Flowers fissures are just awful. I'm 20 months clear now.

You need to see your GP. There are a couple of things they can prescribe.

Go to the gp and ask for rectogesic. The side affects were unpleasant but completely worth it. Xxx

Thank you for replies, sorry I am late replying I have just got home from work and sitting in the bath once again lol.
I did buy some Epsom salts but after one use partner decided to have a bath with some for his muscles and ended up spilling the whole bag over into the bath! 🤦‍♂️so have ordered some more!
I have a GP appointment at the end of the month with being a new patient so was hoping it would be better by then but I will try and book one sooner. I wasn't sure if I would be able to book an emergency appointment but I will see what they say. Unfortunately I will have to suffer through this weekend due to work but first thing monday morning I will ring.
The pain seems to have stopped in between BM and is now mainly just as I am going/ for a very short while after so hopefully this is a sign that it is healing but I would still rather get it seen to make sure it is what I think it is and get the right treatment for it. In the mean time I will carry on with my high fibre diet and drinking lots of water as it really does help to keep things soft so it isn't as painful.

Again thank you so much for replying feels good knowing I don't have to suffer alone 😊

Try and get a same day appt even just with a nurse who can then consult with a doctor. I was prescribed the rectogesic as a same day appt. Its’s agony and can get worse - the cream worked within a week for me. Ask for a doctor to call you back if you can’t Get seen sooner xxx

Stop with the high fibre diet. Fibre bulks your poo up, that's not what you need for a fissure. Go with stool softeners and plenty of water. Milk of magnesia is great for easy poo's and was advised to me by a specialist after having surgery for similar issues.

Also get to the gp asap for the rectogesic.

You absolutely can for this. Just call and say you need same day emergency. If they ask why just say you’re in a lot of pain.

Get some fybogel: you need your stools to be not too soft and not too hard to maximise healing: fybogel will help with this.

I've been taking 3 dulcoease softener every day and I've started having a fybrogel sachet in the evening and have now got some magnesium tablets so will take them too. Hopefully they will help Haha

This sounds like super weird advice, but I read it on a thread on reddit and it helped me so much. When you are pooping try your best to blow your lips out like a horse neighing. I think some of the pain with a fissure is the spasms of your anus while you are pooping.... Blowing your lips out some how stops it from spasming and that will help the pain so much. Another tip is to use your hand wrapped in tissue to push the skin just above your anus as you are pooping. This puts pressure on the poop to come out, without putting too much pressure on your anus. I had a fissure for about 6 months and was too stupid to go to the doctor.... These methods cured me in about 2 weeks.
