Dentists - a question about fluoride toothpaste

DH reckons adults don't need fluoride toothpaste and that a non-fluoride product is just as good. I'm skeptical.

BTW Drinking water in our area doesn't contain fluoride.

I stop using a fluoride toothpaste last year and 6 months later went to the dentist for a check up. He knew straight away what'd been upto as my teeth were soft and said that I wasn't the only one to have this problem. He said if I go back to fluoride and am careful, I could save my teeth from loads of fillings. I don't know what the consequence is as am due to go back next couple of months.

So my advice is keep with the fluoride!
