Tens machine help

Hi I have a few health issues but my main pain comes from my lower spine and the top of my spine.
I've bought a tens machine but the books a bit crap.
Do I just use it for an hr am and pm
Or when the pain is bad
Or do I wear it more.
Could you let me know what helps you most please.
