MacroBid for UTI

I've been feeling like absolute death and it turns out I have a UTI. I've been given MacroBid, I just wondered if anyone had taken this?

Were there any side effects? I don't think i can handle feeling much worse.

I've taken that and doesn't give me any side effects and I get side effects from other antibiotics. Normally works in 48 hours for me - feel better then, obviously take full course.

@PenguinsRabbits thank you!! I'm so glad to hear they work fast. I honestly can't believe how unwell a UTI can make you!!

I didn’t have any side effects but it didn’t get rid of the infection for me either. I had to have cefalexin afterwards and that finally cleared it but I know others have had good results with it.

I looked this antibiotic up on here as it made me feel very sick- a search on here told me the majority of people were fine with it and found it effective.

I was poorly enough that the GP took me off it and put a note on that I was to have amoxicillin in future but not many people seem to have that experience. It's prescribed in pregnancy (that's how I ended up on it) so it must be ok for most people most of the time.

Worst case if you do react to it I stopped being sick with about 6 hours of the last tablet I took, and it was only vomitting and feeling crap.

Always get UTI treated as they can turn into kidney infections or sepsis if left, or even kidney disease.
Macrobid is fine. If you get repeated UTI get a kidney scan.

Please look into D-Mannose. Completely changed how I handle UTI's

I take it very regularly, it’s the only thing that works for my frequent UTIs and it has no side effects for me .

Will D-Manosse be useful if I've only ever had this one time? What does it do? Thank you all for the help Smile

It's so so helpful even for a one off UTI. You can get it next day delivery from the sweet cures website. I prefer the powder rather than the tablets. Chuck a couple of teaspoons of the powder in a pint glass and drink it, repeat every few hours until it's gone If ever you feel the first twinge of a UTI do that for a day and it won't develop (in UK based so is the sweet cures website) I always got thrush with antibiotics for UTI and also I could take mannose when pregnant and BF with no effects

@BarryMcguigan thank you so so much for that - I'll order some now that sounds really great. I think I'll just start that straight away because if anything it feels like it's still getting worse with these antibiotics.

Thank you Thanks
