Colonoscopy with or with out sedation?

Hi has anyone had a Colonoscopy .. which is better with or with out sedation?

My mum has had one without, and my FIL had one with, I think having it with sedation would be much better. If I had to have one, I would have the sedation.

Had one without - all fine, I chatted to the chap doing it about gardening etc all the way through. The laxatives beforehand are much worse than the procedure itself! Good luck

Yes had one last week with 2mg midazolam for sedation (made me less concerned about what was happening but not sedated). It was OK. I’d have the sedation - it can be painful when they go round corners or if the scope loops and the more zen-like you can be the better.

I had one without. It was a bit uncomfortable in the most part until it came to the end where he had to force it around corners. I needed gas and air for that bit! Didn't have any pain relief when I gave birth. On my notes after it said I had a 'long and torturous bowel' Grin

I had one without sedation - had gas and air. It was fine, a bit painful at times, but totally bearable.
