Print off the Epworth sleepiness score and fill it in before your appointment, it will help your GP decide if you need to be referred to the sleep clinic!

I agree with whatever one else says. I am not sure what way it works in the UK but to be dignosed in Ireland you normally need tonbe referred to a sleep clinic. Research that before your appointment so you can request that referral of it is the same in the Uk.

My stepdad has sleep apnoa, he had to go to a sleep clinic to be diagnosed. He said he felt instantly refreshed after one night with his cpap machine.

My mum also said the quiet noise of the machine was preferable to his loud snoring!

He was diagnosed by the paramedics who attended as his symptom were clearly not from his diabetes but he’d passed out. Something like, being 60 plus overweight made them certain?

He got referred to a clinic but he didn’t have to stay overnight I don’t think.

Thanks @SpuriouserAndSpuriouser .

I've tried every over the counter/online snoring aid there is, really hope there is something that can help.

Definitely sounds like sleep apnoea to me too: www.nhs.uk/conditions/obstructive-sleep-apnoea/

Losing weight can improve symptoms so it’s fair enough to bring it up, but there are other things that can be done as well, especially if the lack of sleep is affecting your quality of life so much.

Most of my weight is around my middle sad. Do you know how they diagnosed your DF? Did he have to go to a sleep clinic?

Sounds like sleep apnea.

Please get it sorted. DF took ill (unconscious) at work in the end with it. He’s also type 1 diabetic and carries weight around his middle.

He was given a C-PAP macho e

Have been having broken sleep for some time. Got an app and recorded myself every night snoring blush. I can hear myself every few minutes gasping and sort of waking up which I suppose explains the broken sleep. It's getting so bad that during the day I'm starting to get spells of dizziness, can be totally still but feel like I'm doing a somersault.

Last time I went about this, she practically shooed me out of the door telling me it's because I'm overweight which is a fair comment but has anyone else experienced symptoms like this and was able to get something that helped?

I'm at my wits end. Could go to bed at 8pm and still feel like I'd barely had a wink of sleep.
