my ds had it at 6 months - he had quite a few spots but didnt seem particulary bothered about it - dd(3), who gave it to him had a much worse dose and was very whiny and itchy.

My 8 month old DS had it 2 weeks ago. Was grumpy with a temperature for 24 hours then the spots appeared and he was happy again. only had a few spots, really really mild compared to what happens when you are older. No obvious itching and certainly no scars.

Ds was two and half when he had only 1 spot. The doctor said it was CP but as it was mild he may get it again. He's 4.7 now and not had it again so far, despite being around alot of friends who've had it.

Dd had 2 spots a few months ago. The nurse at the surgery said she was almost certain it was CP but as dd only had 2 she couldn't say for sure. I think it was as it was so similar to ds.
They both were wingey before the spots appeared but nothing major.

They've both been with loads of friends who are at the catching stage and not got it again. Yet!!

So in answer to the op, it can be very mild!!

its so assuring to hear your experiences - thanks . It's a good possibility he has a tummy bug at same time as CP as nursery had cases of both going round . I hope it ends soon ..how long did your lo recover from cp ?

Dd had it last year (aged 3) but only had 10 spots. Little wingy but that was not necessarily caused by the CP. Ds (age nearly 8) has never had it. Am assuming he needs to get it soon, but have no idea how? He has been in contact with lots of children with CP during the contagious phase, drank from their cup etc but just does not seem to get it. Aargh!

ds had it at around 4 months. Initially about 20 spots stated to develop, but all bar 5 faded. He wasn't really ill at all.

But he did have chickenpox, because 5 years later the poor we scrap had shingles!

DD had it when she was about 16 weeks (and breastfed). She had about 2 spots on her bottom and maybe 5 on her face. Completely unbothered by it, though the spots on her face did look a bit horrid.

In reception year CP swept thru the class and DD was one of the very few not to get it (up to 10/26 children out at a time with CP). All her best mates had it, I assume she must be immune.

Heard a story of 2 week old getting it, apparently very mild, though I don't know if he had lasting immunity.

a few days - thank goodness ...my dd had it at 18mths , but we keep reminding her not to get 2 close to ds to prevent her getting it again , as i remember she was irriated by the spots but wasnt too whiney about it . ds seems cheerier today , eating & drinking ok , temp has gone down so hopefully worseis over [fingers crossed]
