Bleeding on the pill when not meant to be

DD19 has been taking Lucette for 12 months and has never had an issue. Since Sunday, she’s been bleeding ever so slightly- more like spotting even though it’s not her break week. She phoned 111 yesterday who told her to book a doctors appointment if it was still happening by Thursday but I’m a bit concerned as it’s not normal. I’ve advised she takes a test to be sure but she’s never missed a pill so I doubt she is pregnant and spotting (plus feels fine). Does anyone have any ideas as to what it might be?

Not particularly reassuring, I know, but the only time I bled on the pill was when I was was miscarrying DD1's twin (didn't know I was pregnant and had taken it perfectly, so didn't suspect). It quickly got heavier for me though, so could just be random breakthrough bleeding, which can happen.

If I were her, I'd take a test anyway and seek a doctor's appointment armed with the result.

Thank you @Spanneroo, I’ll advise her again, she’s currently working a residential trip with kids until Thursday so can’t get one before then. Don’t want her worrying until that point but I’m away on holiday and her boyfriend lives a while away. She can’t get a test before Thursday but hopefully she can order one for then

I had this when I was about 20/21. I kept bleeding between my break bleeds out of the blue when in the pill. It wasn't always bright red, sometimes more pinkish but was very annoying.

If it continues to happen she needs to see a doctor. Mine only happened a couple of times a month but for several months. Good idea to take a pregnancy test just to be sure.

The doctor referred me and I saw a gynecologist. They put a camera inside me and cld see that I had cervical erosion. I had to have it lasered off. Never came back. It was actually fine, I went on my own and even went bk to work after for a few hours.

I think testing is a good idea and she will do it, think she’s just embarrassed. She’s so well organised and sensible I know it’s not because of missed pills. She’s just fearing the worst for her
