I am looking for advice/people's experiences of visiting a Chinese Medicine practitioner as I am thinking of visiting one for a variety of unresolved health issues.

I have suspected ibs or endometriosis (or both, who knows!) anxiety and depression. I have never tried any alternatives to Western Medicine but have heard that Acupuncture can be helpful for a variety of things and the more holistic approach appeals to me. I am fed up of getting no real relief from my Doctor's advice. Has anyone been to see a practitioner with these types of issues and found it useful?

I saw a Chinese herbalist for my IBS, about ten years ago. I liked the idea of it being a holistic approach, and the consultation was very thorough. He “prescribed” me a sort of tea I had to brew up from herbs he supplied, which was so vile it made me vomit. I probably should have gone back but I wrote it off as a bad job.

Thanks for the replies, disappointing to hear that people haven't had good experiences! I am just so desperate to start seeing an improvement in how I feel that I am willing to give anything a try.

Have been looking into acupuncture myself for nerve damage. Lots of people seem to have good results from it and it’s even used in the nhs now (albeit slightly differently).

My best friends mum had terrible sciatica and she has been having acupuncture with really positive results and has gone from having it weekly to only needing to go every 3 weeks.

I just think there’s more to some of these things than is currently understood and if you have chronic pain and can afford to give it a go why not? Wish you luck with it xx

Thanks Roses, I think I will give it a try - I doubt it can make things any worse and if it does help a bit with the pain that would be great.
