Vertigo - help.

I've had a bit of dizziness for years but the last couple of days
it's revved up several notches.
I can barely walk to the kitchen without hugging the wall and
bending down brings it on even worse. I feel nauseous all the time.

I tried a procedure Dr Google shoed of turning head to one side
laying on side...etc. Made the sickness even worse, won't be doing that again.

Anyone got any tips or self help suggestions?

Ah the epley (sp?) manouevre? Made DH feel worse before he felt better too, but that was after whiplash. Any idea why you're getting this? I got it one and was presrcibed something by GP which helped, can you make an appointment?

I have to lay still for a couple of days for it to pass. Olive oil in my ears helps.

It’s an awful feeling, it’s like you’ve just got off a fast roundabout but it doesn’t stop!

I don't know why I'm getting it - though could be anything. I have an arthritic neck and back. Hypothyroidism and Fibro can cause it too I've read somewhere.

It is awful - I'm feeling so hungry but daren't eat in case I'm sick.

I don't know how I'd get to the doctors unless it stops.

You can ask for a phone appointment? I've not seen my GP in years - just talk on the phone nowadays! I'll try and find the tablets that worked for me...

Ask for a GP to do a telephone appointment - just explain to the receptionist.

You have my sympathies vertigo is horrible. I was prescribed stemetil when I had a flare up last year.

Also try steaming it really does help.

Not sure if this is medically/scientifically advised(though I suspect I read it somewhere?), but when I've had these episodes I've tried to fling myself about in exactly the ways which make it feel worst. So bending down and coming up, spinning, jumping, etc. I think this helps the episode to pass more quickly, even though it feels terrible at the time.

I've suffered from positional vertigo for years. I tend to manage it. Sometimes it's bad, sometimes not but always there to some degree. There is a YouTube video where it shows you the head turning exercises but it sounds like you've tried that. When mine flares up I do these. It's hideous when you are actually doing them, makes me feel horrendous and nauseous but I generally find after a night's sleep I feel a lot better. You sometime háve to do them more than once to start to feel better.

I take anti sickness tablets that you can get over the counter too occasionally and I make sure my dentist checks my teeth in the sitting up position!

Good luck 😉
