Just that really - I don’t want to try lactulose as I feel the blockage is lower down and don’t want the tummy pains of needing to go, but not being able!! Are you able to buy anything that would help the other end otc? If so what do I ask for? Thanks

Thanks - just seen Boots sell glycerin suppositories : anyone got any experience of them? I am managing the constipation but terrified of bad tummy pains as a result of using them!

Glycerine suppositories are what you want to ask for - make sure you get adult ones, not child size! Dampen suppository, Lie on your left side, insert as deep as you can using finger and wait at least 15 mins, longer if you can. Instant relief, with no pain, normally, apart from the discomfort of possibly squeezing out a giant poo! If it doesn't work after the initial time it might still have an effect later. If it doesn't work try a second one a few hours later. And if it's a frequent problem use a stool softener like movicol regularly. Good luck!

I’ve used one - but it fell out after 5 mins and I’m pretty sure it was whole! Does anyone know if I’d be ok to use another? It says only one in 24 hrs x

We use glycerin suppositories at work. They are useless. We prefer to give an enema. Works much better!

Make sure you put it up properly and make sure you're near a bathroom, they work instantly on me Blush

I used another and lasted 10 mins before I went to the toilet. Only s little amount but such a relief. Hoping this starts to sort things now. I didn’t realise how bloody awful constipation is Blush

Glycerin all the way. The first time I didn’t put one in far enough and it fell out after 5 minutes. Put another one up further and I had relief in 15 minutes.
