Hi, I'm 36 years old female and feel like im falling apart.

Had all diffrent issues but the new one I'm hoping to get advice for.

I've had bad stomach cramps on and off for years, been to the doctor loads of times blood tests etc always came back the usual low in iron.

Had a bad case of it last 3 week's with loose stools feeling sick etc, i went to the doctor who ordered blood tests and stool sample.
Called in to see doctor again, iron low and calcium raised no stool results yet, given iron tablets.
I got a call yesterday that my stool sample was abnormal and I was being reffered.

So I'm guessing it's not going to be great news?

Has anyone had similar also a colonoscpy which I'm sure will be in the pipe line, i have terrible anxiety and feel like someone is sitting on my chest it's awful

Abnormal doesn’t have to mean cancer. If that’s what you’re worried about. It could be anything from Crohn’s disease to ulcerative colitis to some weird allergy thing.

I’ve had a colonoscopy for similar reasons and they didn’t find anything and put mine down to ibs. The procedure itself wasn’t the best day out I’ve had but worth it for peace of mind.

I was anaemic and my stools sample showed blood. I was fast tracked for an endoscopy and colonoscopy. The endoscopy showed that I have Barretts oesophagus and a Hiatus Hernia and they were unable to complete the colonoscopy due to severe Diverticulitis so I ended up having a CT Colonography. Unfortunately this showed that I had colon cancer.
Every case is different - I was just unlucky.
But it was caught early. I had surgery and am now in remission.
Feel free to message me if you want to x x

Oh my goodness BIGC I'm so sorry to hear that but amazing news you are in remission.

Yes fairy, that's exactly what im worried about, the only thing keeping me from freaking out to much is i have had flare ups for years and years just no one really took much notice. I'm always low on iron too as my periods are horrendous so that's also a glimmer of hope.

Thank you both for replying

Could it be coeliac disease? There is a stool test for this - I think it's faecal elastin or some such....
