Anxiety 2 weeks before period

I'm 46 and periods still regular and normal, but I'm feeling controlled by my cycle. The 2 weeks before my period starts are stressing me out. I'm having wild dreams and I wake up feeling really anxious. I feel as though my heart is racing - I don't think it is. I feel tense, nervous and full of worry. By mid morning it has died down a bit, but I'm struggling to cope with the feelings. I want to cry - don't know why. I don't feel sad, I just feel so anxious and like my mind is racing.

Is there anything I can do? If I see a GP can they do anything? I walk the dog each day so I'm getting early exercise.

Anyone? When the feeling dies down I feel exhausted. All the nervous energy drains away.

Yes I am 43 and was going through the same and gp put me on mirap .It really helps with insomnia and anxiety.

In the last couple of years my mood swings before my period are horrendous. I’m 41 this year and I seem to suffer with anxiety, depression and bad irritability as well for no reason. I eat fairly healthy and I’m even a regular at the gym with classes and yoga weekly but nothing has helped.

Same here. It's awful. I'm on a low dose SSRI (5mg) & it has helped. Definitely talk to GP.

It hasn't taken it away entirely tho & some months v v hard.

Thanks. I will go to the doctor. I've been putting up with it for a few months and it's starting to get me down.

Made an appointment for later in the week. Had intense panic this morning. Now feel a bit tearful & wobbly. Still worrying that GP will just roll his eyes! I know he won't as he's lovely and I rarely go!
