Headache advice

Hi all
Just wondered if anyone has any advice to offer about my situation.
I've always been a headache sufferer and they have been worse since I've been perimenopausal. But I've had a headache for over 2 weeks this time. It started as a migraine type and after 3 days it's been a mild headache every day. Theres been 3 days in that time with no headache. When I say mild headache it's like a painful head.
I do have arthritis in my neck plus going through peri so lots going on and never really sure what it because of what. I've been to the gp who has said its migraines and given me aspirin and something for my stomach. It's a high dose so I'm only supposed to do it when it's really bad.
I guess because it's been going on a while my thoughts have run away with me a bit and I'm worried about something more sinister. On a logical day I dont. She said to go back if no progress and she would refer me to a neurologist. Has or does anyone else suffer like this? Any advice would be great. Thank you

I’ve had similar for the last year. GP thought they were tension headaches to start with, prescribed meds which helped. Then they suddenly increased in frequency and severity, all of which coincided with altered sensation in my arms and feet and neck pain down into my shoulder blades. Turns out I have bulging (slipped) discs in my neck which I suspect have caused all of this. It’s definitely worth you going back to the GP but given your arthritis in your neck I would ask if they think the headaches are connected.

I would say a referral may put your mind at ease, if anything, after routine tests they will offer specialist advice and medication.

I had migraine over nearly a year, it was nasty (thought I was having a stroke on several occasions), alongside other symptoms and anxiety.

My neurologist diagnosed chronic daily migraine and I'm now on amitriptylene which has been a lifesaver.

My headaches had significantly worsened over the past six months, which had coincided with hot flushes starting (I'm 47).
My GP put me on HRT and the headaches immediately stopped.

Were your headaches really bad all the time? I have pain every day but not migraine style pain all the time

I was having more or less daily headaches and my migraines had gone from one every six or seven years to every fortnight (not as bad, I grant you, but still necessitating me taking time off work).
