Help! Panic every morning in bed and it's becoming dibiltating, anyone got through similar?!

Alarm goes off, and it's started again (2weeks now)...my stomach thinks we're all gonna die or something absolutely horrific is about to happen. Push on through, get up, shower, get ready for work, but it keeps on building, diarrhoea every day now in the morning 2 wks running (literally), I'm holding back tears in the car. In work I'm holding back tears (very well I must say) every morning.
I have never had anything like this. I've been a strong person, moving to new parts of the country away from support, some stressful work experiences in the past but never suffered like this ever.
I had a small car accident, stupid woman drive into me about 2 months ago...do you think this is the reason?!
I have been on and off AD's, came off in January, went to doctor earlier this week and they put me back on them (Prozac).
Will it help?! Anyone had similar?! I'm such a mess right now. It beat me today and I didn't go in to work 😞.
It does subside slightly during the day but never leaves.

Would be nice to hear there's light at the end of the tunnel, I keep telling myself this but it's not helping at the moment.

Maybe talk to your GP about beta blockers, they will help the physical symptoms. Obviously you want to find the cause as well.

I'm thinking this may be hormonal.

I'm not pregnant as I've tested. It's way too severe for hormones surely?! I mentioned early menopause to the go but it was dismissed?

It may be peri-menopause. What you describe is exactly what I experienced. Peri can fluctuate and last for years before actual menopause. I'm on HRT and I'm back to my old self. Think hard, are there any other symptoms, annoying issues you're also dealing with?

Only that when discussing TTC a few months ago with DH we didn't agree on starting then and I took it way too badly, I'd been off Prozac for a month by that point and the pill (prog only) since Feb. Thought we were on the same page at the time but weren't?! I think I over reacted massively. Everything else ok though...

Hi wreck, I started having this in my 20s on and off. I suffer from general anxiety disorder (GAD), it’s very common and so is what you are experiencing. That feeling of dread you are having is one of the main symptoms, it’s always at it’s worse in the morning.

When you have these bouts of worry are you also getting other anxiety symptoms like a racing heart, sweaty palms, mild shaking, rapid breathing etc?

I would say your car accident or simply life stresses has triggered this and it will go with time you just need to learn how to cope with it.

Prozac May make it worse at first until you settle on a doseage that suits you, Prozac is good for depression but it can be erratic when used for anxiety so could make you go either way, for me it mad em happy but paranoid and more worried.

Read this and see if any of this sounds familiar.

Good luck xx

I had terrible anxiety like yours. I really sympathise. I was trialled on all sorts of ADs. Eventually referred to a psychiatrist. GP was sympathetic but nothing was working.
The difference seeing an expert has been phenomenal. I also have severe depression as well as the anxiety.
I'm now on two medications (no point naming them as everyone is different and I'm not a psychiatrist)
I still have a bad day maybe once a week. But that's nothing compared to the daily horror I had previously.
I was essentially living my life in a state of terror. Well not living, surviving barely.
I can't recommend a psychiatric referral strongly enough.
My psychiatrist also talks to me, he doesn't just dish out pills.
Best of luck, I know how awful it is.

I have GAD (hence why I am awake at this time of night!)

Just been prescribed fluoxetine for it, and been taking it for just over a week. My anxiety is definitely improving, but I am not out of the woods yet. But I know to hang on in there, as last time I took fluoxetine, when it kicked in it was brilliant (if anything, it worked too well, I stopped worrying about anything.)

I think trying counselling might really help you. Ask for a referral or look for private counsellors locally. If you find the right person and right type of therapy it could make a huge difference.

Thank you so much guys. I stopped looking on Mumsnet for a bit in addition to other social networking sites to help. It's getting very slowly better on the Prozac. I'm doing a multitude of things so not really sure which is the best but it's probably a combination of all. Seeing an old counsellor which helped dramatically. @TolpuddleFarter I do remember not giving a look about anything when I was last on Prozac so looking forward to those days again 😂
I keep trying to describe it to my DH...it's like my heart a pounding but not for long, it's feeling nervous in the body then having diarrhoea on the second time visiting the loo within 20mins of getting up. It's like my heart is broken, like one of the "heart strings" (metaphor) has snapped or is stuck being pulled. I feel sad I guess so much I feel I've got something terribly wrong inside 😂 bloody brain!!!
I've suffered from night terrors in the past where your paralysed in fear half awake half asleep I guess this was part and parcel of the same thing?
I've been chronically lonely all my life so I guess it's true when they say loneliness is like smoking 30 a say or whatever in terms of impact on the body!
