No periods since 2012 now very minor blood loss

I don't know if I should be worried or not. I'm 51 and in 2012 had an ablation due to heavy periods. Since then, I have had no periods at all. I wear pant liners as I can lose the odd trickle of wee if I laugh/cough. The last couple of days, there has been a small amount of what I thought was dark coloured wee on the liner but yesterday I didn't wear one and there was a small drop of blood in my pants. I had a smear test three weeks ago. I have booked a GP appointment online (which I can cancel at any time) to be seen in 2 weeks time. I reasoned that if there are more signs of blood, I will keep the appointment but if ther's no more signs of blood then it must have been an anomaly and can cancel. Any thoughts?

Any bleeding a year after your periods stopped needs to be investigated. I’d ring the doctors and get an earlier appointment. It may just be something minor but could also be something more serious.

It might be mechanical damage from the smear test. Unless it gets worse/ more frequent or there are other symptoms then I doubt the GP will do much. I’d Wait and see at this stage, it will either get worse or go away.

May need a precautionary op just in case. Happened to me after 15 years of no periods. I have had 3 hysteroscopies, with 6 months between each one. No issues at all apart from a little thickening of womb lining. They popped coil back in to help thin the lining + all fine.
