Worrying about my high pulse

Thisisus1 · 16/04/2019 14:07

My resting heart rate is always around 100-103

I am so worried about it.
I cant stop checking it.
I have so many things going on in my head.

My four year old has undiagnosed neurological problems- cant talk/walk and has had seizures and needed ventilating and sedating after them and we don't know why he has had these seizures. I worry all the time about if he has another and I need to give him CPR

I worry about money
I worry about my health
I worry about my other child
I worry , worry, worry. I google all day worrying.
I have a spasm in my ear which has been thumping since Christmas which I'm worrying is a tumour and I have to go and see an ENT and I keep researching it on google. It only thumps by the trigger of burping/hiccupping.

I cant even choose a loaf of bread of the shelf without getting flusterd and just snatching it because I feel anxious.

I worry what people think of me.

I worry worry worry all the time and now I am worrying that my resting pulse is too high at 100 and I keep checking it. Even when I tell my self to calm down when I'm checking it its high.

I am always at the doctors with some problem or other. Do I need to go back with this pulse rate?

I have been once and she saw that it was 100 and just mumbled something about 'its ok'. But should I go again to see another GP?
I feel fine and I don't have any palpitations or anything but I do keep dreaming about being a child lot recently as I think I am so stressed that I don't want to be here any more.

What if my thumping ear and high pulse are connected?

my thumps in my ear don't feel like my heart beat as they are a different rhythm and are more powerful and a 'feeling' like its my ear drum vibrating/spasming

You need to see a mental health professional. That level of anxiety must be very difficult to live with.

The pulse is probably stress caused by anxiety. Then the anxiety gets worse over the pulse. Treat the anxiety, pulse thing will probably disappear.

that's what I try to tell my self but I can test my pulse when I don't feel that bad ( watching tv) and its still high however I know that I'm not fully relaxed. I know I will be sat uptight even when I look outwardly relaxed.

Even by testing it you're raising the stress level because you're looking for it to be high. I say this in the nicest way but checking your pulse while watching tv is not normal. I had a very minor anxiety problem compared to you and I got counselling and went on medication. Best thing I ever did.

I was on meds for about 3 weeks and didn't see any changes to how I felt

This is how worried I am - I have refreshed this page around 10 times since my last reply. Just for reassurance/answers... I am addicted to reassurance

when I have reassurance I will have this elated feeling and become manically happy and relieved and will eat/have fun/my silly sence of humour will come back

Why are you checking this?

I literally have no idea what my resting heart rate is and tbh I couldn't accurately take my pulse either?

i checked it incase it was high … which it was and it was high at Christmas the last time i became obsessed about it but then i got busy worrying about something else and moved on from my heart rate because i think i took it once and it was in the 90's so i left it at that

3 weeks is not long enough for medication for this sort of thing. 3 months is hardly long enough. You have to give it time.

Look up pulsatile tinnitus. It's harmless and has nothing to do with your pulse rate. Lots of people have it from time to time, particularly if you have hearing loss but can happen without.
The high pulse rate will be because you're constantly anxious. You can self refer for help with this (healthy minds etc), best talking to your gp or maybe health visitor if dc is not yet school age. Good luck x

Ohwhatapalava...I do think I could have this pulsatile tinnitus...anxiety is such a strong thing and I find it hard to rationalise...

I have just done my pulse as I was reading and it was 88. God I feel better now!

But soon you won’t feel better and will want reassurance again. 3 weeks isn’t anywhere long enough for medication to work. You need to speak to your GP about your anxiety.

I was diagnosed with Colon cancer and also a blocked heart and didn't get as stressed as you seem to be. I appreciate you have other things going on In Your life too but you need to just calm down a little.

3 weeks is nothing. It wouldn't even have built halfway up to therapeutic levels in 3 weeks.

If you're going to treat anxiety, you need to give it time to actually work. And you really really really need this anxiety treated.

checked it incase it was high …

I understand. I'm asking why you did that?

Hi love aw you are really going thru it aren't you. I have panics like this at times. Please get the Headspace app and when you do have a few minutes just get yourself in a quiet room, and allow yourself to just breathe and clear your mind. Just for a few mins every day can really help. Also maybe speaking to your dr and see if he can help with some CBT.

Life is so hard at times. Is there anyone you can talk to? Just to let out all your feelings and worries. Sometimes a problem shared really is a problem halved.

Xxx

There is no level of reassurance that will reassure you, OP. It doesn't exist. Because the real problem is the compulsion to worry. Even if your pulse turned textbook perfect you'd find something else to fret about. That's why others are saying you need to talk to GP about anxiety.

I went to see my GP this morning.

I had such an embarrassing melt down in her room. I was crying about what was wrong with my ear and she just kept telling me it was titinus. I told her it was a feeling rather then a sound and she just shrugged. I asked her if she thought it was a tumour or an aneurysm and she said no but I need to stop worrying about it. it is just titinus.

I begged her to put me on tablets for anxiety but she said it wouldn't help taking tablets and I need counselling. I told her that I worry all the time and I hold jaw tight. she said I needed to see a dentist for that.

I was sat crying and explaining about my 4 year old son who has been in comas due to seizures and how I live my days dreading it happening again. I also explained his neurological conditions (not walking/talking) and she just said I needed counclng and she wouldn't give me tablets.

I dont know what to think. is she right? Has she made the right decisions?

she said the ENT will just look at my ear and do nothing.

I felt as though I was trying to score weed rather then anxiety tablets.
