Is this lump down below an ingrown pubic hair? (TMI)

Sorry for TMI but I don't want to embarrass myself by going to the doctors if I don't need to. But also don't want to not go if its something i should be concerned about. I have a lump down below, on the outside of my vulva where my thigh touches my lady parts.

It's very sore, and roughly the size of a raspberry, maybe slightly bigger, but smaller than a ping pong ball. Only about 40% maybe less of this lump is raised above the usual skin level, but can very easily feel the rest of it underneath.

There is a smaller mini lump on top of the big lump which has a black ish tip and keeps leaking very small amounts of clear fluid. I think I can see a hair in the mini lump which makes me think it's an ingrown hair?

It's been there since midweek, when I noticed it fully clothed and then it became painful the next day.

I do have a photo but worried it will gross everybody out too much.

I've been cleaning it with an antiseptic wipe and then putting on germaline cream a few times a day.

It's in an awkward part of the body where I can't see without using a mirror/camera.

You're supposed to sound a KLAXON so we can all come and tell you to poke and prod it and take pictures.

Sounds like an ingrown hair, I'd have a go at trying to dig it out with some tweezers. And/or put magnesium sulphate on it, cover it overnight and it should have come to a proper head by the morning that you can gently squeeze.

I've had one of those before. I held a hot cloth over it, as hot as I could handle and for as long as possible. I think I had to do it a few times over a few hours until a head appeared. It's gross, but quite fun also! Blush

I am a but of an ingrown hair lover.

Get a pin in that thing and try and catch the hair with it and pull it out above the skin. Then tweezer the hair out.

Sometimes gunk will come with it (amazing)

Once the hair is out you'll find it'll clear really quick.

It hurts if you need to pop it. But the relief is pretty instant and it's VERY satisfying.

Please just go to the doctor. It could be an infection or boil. They will know. (The terminology is an ingrowING hair btw.) Sorry to be grumpy, but I have seen so much poor spelling today that it's sent me loopy. Sad

If it's really the size of a raspberry I'd go to the dr. And I am a dedicated sporner who will squeeze everything. But that sounds very big.

Thanks all. The issue with tweezing it out is that I can't see what I'm doing 😪

The nhs doesn’t agree with you, missmouse so there was no need for your pedantry.

Miss mouse... this is not meant as a mean comment, but this is the second thread that I’ve seen you comment JUST to pick up on bad spelling. Have you been to pedants corner? There might be more threads that are up your street!

Arghhh!! I think I have something v similar but not so large, it’s been there for a week, I haven’t done anything as I was hoping it would go away but it hasn’t. I normally cycle everywhere but my saddle rubs it!! Not too painful the rest of the time. Do you think I need to go to the docs too? Normally you can’t get an appointment for weeks unless it’s classed as an emergency!!

No, no! I'm not just making spelling comments I promise. I am also replying to the OP. I'm just having a spectacularly grumpy afternoon and I'm sorry everyone. They just leap out at me. Pedants' Corner is not where I need to be. Blush

Could it be a Bartholins cyst?

Oooo share the photo!

It could also be a swollen gland or bartholin cyst. I get them quite often. A warm compress or bath is usually very soothing. If it is an ingrowing hair this can also make it come to a head and burst quicker. Get a GP appointment if you're still worried in a few days.
