Shingle pain.

I have had shingles diagnosed a fortnight ago. I was given antiviral drugs and the red patches have disappeared leaving the dried up blisters. However, I have had a pain which is really an ache/soreness and tenderness a few inches above the actual shingles. The patches seem to be behaving themselves. The pain and tenderness is around my left rib area from beneath my breast and below but the shingles are below this just below my waist. I don’t want another appointment to ask a simple question to make sure it is the shingles. It has only appeared since the shingles began. Would be grateful if someone has experienced anything like this and can help.

It sounds just like shingkes pain to me. I had it just over a year ago and every now and then get the pain.

Are you taking painkillers? Because they did help take the edge off when it was it its worst.

Flowers take it easy... Shingles can knock you about.

I didn't have it but this might help www.nhs.uk/conditions/post-herpetic-neuralgia/

I think basically the nerve gets jangled by shingles and then sometimes keeps sending pain signals for a while, even though there's no actual reason to like a virus or inflammation. Dr might be able to help, or it should settle down?

Flowers I had shingles badly in the eye and head a few years ago and it was beastly.

Thank you so much for answering. I was puzzled by the pain being separate from the actual shingle rash. However, seemed a coincidence that they are so close. Thank you again.
