Help! Diarheoa 20-30 times a day!

I had a general stomach bug 5 days ago general nausea, diarheoa but seemed to recover quickly 2 days later. Appetite returned. Kids had it too, all fine.

But now, 5 days later, my diarhea is horrific and I've gone 20 to 30 times a day with a good dose each time. What the fuck is causing this? Im hungry but everything I eat causes pain, gas and another toilet trip. Im going to book a docs app first thing tomorrow as feel slightly dizzy. No temp or anything. Im losing so much liquid.

I feel starved and im drinking loads. I have little nausea thank goodness as i am hungry but not eating much.

Not sure if it’s the right thing to do or not but if you’re sure you’re recovered have you tried some Imodium?

If I were you, and I was having dihorrea that many times in such a short space of time, I would get some medical advice. It can quickly make you very unwell if left untreated.

You need medical advice. That much for that long is not good.

Diarrhoea is a dreadful word to spell, not that I am picking up on anyone on this thread. I remember it by thinking Doesn’t It Always Run Rather Horribly Over Each Ankle.

I have immodium but not entirely certain its the right thing to do. If its bacteria or a virus it needs to be expelled with the diarrhoea rather than stopping the diarrhoea. Noted re medical advice though.

Please don't take immodium without asking GP's advice first.

If you do phone your doctor's surgery in the morning, given that you've got a contagious quite nasty bug I'd speak to the receptionist about the nature of the issue rather than just booking an appointment. For infection control reasons they may get the GP to phone you in the first instance.

Do you have IBS? It's just a bug can cause a flare up.
Drs have told me if you have a bug, it has to come out . If immodun helps then it is unlikely to be a bug.
You should speak to your Dr on phone or go if you can.
Keep well hydrated . I have found plain crisps helps me .
I have severe IBS which flares up when least convient times.
Have you dyoralite (sp)

Don't take the Imodium. If it is a bug you need to get it out.

I would see gp or out of hours pretty urgently to be honest.

Sorry to be a know it all, if its a bacteria or food poisoning you should not take immodium however if it is a VIRUS such as gastro or noro etc then you can take immodium because viruses do not need to be flushed out, your bodies immune system fights the virus and kills it regardless. The only reason the virus makes you want to throw up and poo is to keep itself alive and spread more. Bacterial stomach infections or food poisoning does need to come out though, sorry to be so graffic but I've read a lot of research on this.

A friend has got this at the moment. . After numerous tests he has been diagnosed with campylobector.
He's been really unwell.

Definitely doctors tomorrow if you're going that much. Wouldn't take the immodium without advice.

Eaten anything potentially dodgy lately? I food poisoned myself with one bite of undercooked chicken once, reckon it was campylobacter that got me that time. It was horrible, lasted ages, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

My son has an awful D&V bug right now, not 20-30 times a day though! Though the little he's eating doesn't always make it that far as he's being sick too. He's had it for a week so was at the doctors with him this morning. Not sure what it is, had to collect a stool sample this morning to see if there's anything they can do Envy

20 to 30 times a day? Have you seen a HCP? When I was diagnosed with food poisoning, my GP was aghast that i had gone seven times in 12 hours and prescribed various medications right away.

After three days of the same food poisoning, while out of the UK, the doctor put me on a drip and gave me mineral powders to put in my water.

20/30 times a day? You must be massively dehydrated.

I went to the doc and he didn't seem concerned about frequency and that being on day 6 of bug isn't a concern at this stage. He did advise me to provide a stool sample if no improvement in 48 hours.

Since going docs I've not had diarheoa in nearly 48 hours now which is fantastic and im eating small amounts and its agreeing with me so far. I am a lot more hungrier and I've had a headache all day and super thirsty for the last 24 hours. Im drinking loads. I had taken Dioralyte which helped my energy levels. I can't seem to get enough water.

Im seriously hoping im out the worst of it now. Its the worse stomach bug I've ever had.

I think the fact i looked well to the gp was a factor in why he wasn't concerned but i did feel generally well in between bouts just tired. I still think im massively dehydrated
