sinusitis - will it go away on its own?

I have had sinusitis since last monday and am wondering whether it will go away or if i need to get something for it. bizarrely enough, i was already on antibiotics for a recurrent sore throat when it started- i still have that too!
any advice?

it depends how severe the sinusitus is, ive had it a few times but the first time i had it i was coughing up pure black stuff but as i wxplained to my doc it wasnt coming from my chest and she immediatly said siniusitus, id never ecven heard of till then lol, i was given antibiotics that time but ive had it a few times since but never to that extent of last time and tbh honest its cleared up on its own, it does take ages to clear though.

Depends how bad it is. It should go away eventually by itself, but you might not want to wait that long. Are you doing steam inhalations to help open up and drain your air passages? If not, would really recommend them with either olbas oil or vicks.

I usually give in after about a week/10 days of suffering and see the GP.

Once I let it go and wound up with ear and chest infection as well.

Off work for 3 weeks and I was really, really ill.

I know you can get your sinuses drained - they literally stick a needle-type thing up you nose and pierce the membranes. I would definitely go see the doctor. Are you taking sudafed?

Sudafed is fab, and can be taken with a painkiller such as Anadin. I also find steam inhalation great, with a few drops of olbas oil in it.

Hope you feel better soon.

I have gone to the docs twice with sinisitis because it hasn't gone on its own after a week or so and instead got increasingly painful.

First time was antibiotics which worked. Second time, I was prescribed a nasal spray, which also worked. Maybe you could ask a pharmacist of their is a otc spray if you can't get to the docs?
