Dupuytrens Contracture

Has anyone got this condition? I found out today I have this, just wondered whether anyone has it where it hasn't really progressed to make any difference to their life. Been googling but that only really gives you the extreme views, so just wanted to hear from anyone who has it really to see what their experience of it is. Thanks :)

My husband had this. He wasn't affected, at least at the time of surgery, to the same severity as you will see in some pics, but he could see it become progressively worse over several months so decided to just get the surgery done.

It was done as a day case, local anaesthetic, and quick recovery. Scarring is pretty obvious but the thickening hasn't returned. As warned though, it is now appearing on his other hand.

Thanks Dunkling. Do you remember roughly how long it took from
noticing the lump on his hand to him having problems straightening his fingers?

He saw his GP probably about 6 months after first noticing the hardening, and it started to contract about 2 months before.

I have very slow progression of Dupuytrens (which was confirmed by arthritis consultant).

I've had thickening of cords on the palms my hands for a few years and I have one small lump but no significant contracture to date. I notice it more in the winter for some reason.

I've also found that a low sugar, low processed food diet helps, which I eat for anti-inflammatory reasons.

DH has it and has had it for at least 10 years. Both little fingers are noticeably curved but as it doesn't bother him, he is not having surgery yet.

I had it diagnosed 32 years ago (lumps on fingers and balls of feet, plus family history). No progression until about 6 months ago and I now have 1 little finger bent and I suspect the other will go soon. I plan to get an Op as soon as I can be bothered to get a GP referral (as have private medical).

I had the surgery when I was about 20. It was completely straightforward and 32 years later I have no issues

I know I'm dragging up a thread from earlier in the year but.

Pretty sure I have this but arse backwards. I've only just developed the painful nodule but the pitting and possibly the cords I have had a while. However the contraction. I have massive contraction in my baby and ring finger on right hand, and less in index and second. However not permanently. They do currently open at times, although are often stuck bent for a while. I also have lesser contraction on left hand.

My mam has had the nodule for years and is starting with the contraction.
