Welcome one and all - its 9.30 and alls well. Well I've had no breakfast so here's where it gets difficult, this is my cup of tea and biscuit time to reward myself for nightmare morning /school run. So off to make some toast instead - oh bugger, no marmalade either!
Welcome Donk and Kaloo, best of luck everyone. Will be back later to monitor progress - one day at a time...

Alright, I'm in. I may fall off the wagon as I've traditionally used chocolate/sweets to treat myself when feeling stressed....and I'm quite stressed at the moment because we're moving to America in 9 days.

But, I really need to do this as I'm convinced it is the key to dropping the extra weight I'm currently carrying.

So far today, two coffees with Hermeseta...so guess I'm doing OK. It's the nights after dd is in bed that will be challenging - so will need support from all of you, and will offer it too!

i did this 18 months ago and after initial cravings from my body..that was hard..i was scouring the cupboards desperate for a fix!!! it got suddenly easier and i actually didnt wan any sugar anf felt briliant.full of energy and the weight dropped off[mind you i was also doing the wheat free option too] and i must admit i dont eat much cards anymore as i just dont fancy them in the same way i used too...i was allowed to use fruit sugar afer a few weeks which you canfind in the supermarkets next to the regular sugar and its better for you.has low GI and you don tneed as much because its naturally sweeter ..i give it my kids as you dont get the rebound effect like normal sugar too..you can cook with it as well

hi cluttered

am good to go. Was tempted by a digestive biscuit this morning when putting pack into tin but rememeberd and resisted.

today have had bowl of dorset museli and a plum. Have joined the 10/10 thread as well.

Have also cut out coffee so head is a bit poundy.

Are people aiming for weight loss of health or both?

clutteredup · 05/07/2007 10:48

Most brands of peanut butter are heavily laced with sugar, look at the label to check yours.

Earlybird · 05/07/2007 10:59

I plan to focus on cutting out sweets/cakes/biscuits/pastries/candy etc - in other words, the things that are obviously sweet and/or loaded with sugar.

At this point, I will continue to eat fruit, peanut butter yoghurt, muesli etc., and even the odd glass of wine. Don't plan on scouring labels for sugar content as that will take up too much time/energy.

Does that mean I'm not really committed to the campaign? .

I really should get off here, and do some packing...

Where are you moving to in USA, Earlybird?

Im with you earlybird - I think if I go too far too early i will crash and give in.

I had a tin of low fat rice pudding planned for later.

I think we need to plan our meals, think that is the key.

lljkk - moving to Tennessee (Do you think I'll have to learn to linedance?), where it will be 95 until end of September, I'm told. Hope this 'no sugar' campaign can help me get shed extra weight, because I'm not going to be able to hide in the clothes we've all been forced to wear here during the non-summer!

Line dancing is MUCH bigger in UK than in USA, actually. But I hope you like "both" types of music, Earlybird, "country" and "western"....

I'm still with you all

Done ok so far today, fruit and fibre for breakfast and now a cup of tea(with sweetners) and wrap with eggs, really low fat mayo(just a little) and tomato. So not doing too badly!!

Earlybird, i'm with you on what I'm gonna cut out. I think clutterdup's plan was that too. Not completely no sugar just natural only or sweetners in tea/coffee.

I've tried tea with no sugar and don't like it. Maybe I can cut down to half a sweetner, then cut it totally after a while.

Oh and i'm gonna still have diet coke, but only with vodka in the evenings(not everyday)

Well done Eddas,you star .
Earlybird how are you getting on with your line dancing too? I'd be worried about the food in the states, but that's me. How's this evening going? Hope the packing's going well. Is this a permanent move?
Good tip about the Vit C bambi, thanks, hope all is going well for no.3 - its busy but great with 3.

Good start to day 1, I did not break although I had a hard time this pm with a kiddies bday party - normally greedy guts here would be stuffing face with chocolate crispies, chocolate fingers and cake I think DD had a good time as there were some left for her this time!! Then I was offered a piece of mega gateaux 'for the grown ups' - this temptation thing is really too much! But succeeded all the same.
It's really the full fat sugar or bust stuff we're trying to kick - I'm not doing the marmalade as it fall's into my catagory of 'substitute' food. As in I don't currently eat much toast and marmalade but sure as hell would eat shed loads if it was a way of getting a sugar fix - but that's just me - at the mo I'd get a high from anything suggesting sugar even if I had to eat it in mega quantities.
REMINDER PLEASE NO ONE SAID WE WERE GIVING UP ALCOHOL I couldn't do that too - just trying for the sugar thing not denying all pleasures in life -I'd die. Crisps aren't sugary so I'm eating crisps and drinknig wine tonight
Keep going girls (and boys too if there are any) We can do it.

Hello - Well, I hope I'm not speaking too soon when I say I have survived the day without sugar. As I said previously, evenings and after meals are the tricky times for me. I made some popcorn, and that seems to have stopped my craving to munch. Guess I should try to drink more water too.

Packing OK. Stopped to take dd to a birthday party (and yikes the cake is sitting in the kitchen now along with a bar of chocolate - never would have lasted before! Maybe I should throw it away now.).

I wonder if they have aerobic line dancing in Tennessee? Might be just the ticket for burning calories...

How is everyone else doing?
