Sore throat after tooth clean

Had a deep tooth clean at the dentist today which finished up with him sort of “pressure washing” my teeth with gritty stuff. As I rinsed I felt like my throat was swollen and the sensation hasn’t gone away 6 hours later. My ears feel sort of blocked too. It improved with ibuprofen but felt weird again when the painkiller wore off. I was absolutely fine when I went in and have never had a problem with adverse reaction to dental work before, but I had never had that pressure wash cleaning before. Dentist checked my mouth and throat and said it looked fine but I think from looking in the mirror that my uvula is a bit swollen.

Has anyone else had this? I don’t know whether I should go back to the dentist now, am worried it’s some sort of allergy. However it hasn’t got worse and I can breathe perfectly well.

I am experiencing a sore throat after having a teeth cleaning yesterday as well. I didn’t have the pressure wash thing (although I do know what you’re talking about) but I did have an extremely dry mouth and I also swallowed when she turned away because my mouth was so dry... I’m not sure what’s going on but I can’t stand it, my ears are a little blocked as well and my throat is sore.

Did you ever happen to find out anymore information? Were you sick after? Did it go away and how long did your symptoms take to improve?

I'm having the same issue now... Thought I'd check if anyone experienced the same thing after a professional clean before assuming its corona virus!

I always have a sore throat after I've been to the hygienist, it's definitely something to do with the "pressure washing" and suctioning.

I think you're right as I feel better today! Drank loads of ginger and garlic last night just incase it was covid!
