How difficult is it to get treated with regenerative therapy in Scotland for degenerative disc disease? I know Scotland is the foremost country in the world for stem cell therapy but I have not lived in the UK for the past 15 years (moving back soon) so I am not sure how getting started with treatment would work. I've been seeing a specialist in the US and have MRIs and XRays, as well as an EMG and possible discography coming up, but if disographies are not the standard diagnostic procedure in the UK I would prefer to skip it and wait til we return.
Would I just see my GP and then get referred to a specialist? Is regenerative therapy covered under NHS or would I need to get private insurance? How long is the wait for this type of treatment? Would they want to get all the diagnostic tests re-done? I realise not all of these questions are likely to be answerable but I'd like to hear from anyone else who has undergone this line of treatment.
