SLEEP APNEA

Does anyone have any experience in dealing with sleep apnea?!

I/We think that my DH has it. The GP gas referred him to the sleep clinic but the first available appointment isn't until May.

Is there anything we can do in the mean time that prevents me from smothering him enables me to have a snore free nights sleep?!

my DH has sleep apnoea, diagnosed 12 years ago, and has been on CPAP ever since and my nights are blissfully quiet now!

if he's overweight then losing weight will almost certainly help.

DH has it. His waiting list was much longer and there was little that we found effective. We tried different pillows, nose strips and various other 'solutions'. Only the CPap machine worked. DH did lose weight in that time and joined a gym and that helped.

He's not obese in the fat sense, he's very muscular though.

@CMOTDibbler @GoJohnnyGoGoGoGo he picked up his monitor yesterday ready for his assessment on Thursday.

Luckily we made it this far without anyone being harmed.

Your life, and his, will be transformed by his CPAP. Yours because he's no longer snoring and his because he will be getting quality sleep for the first time in years. Don't be surprised if he sleeps for less time too. I went from 10 hours a night to 7.

Dh also has a CPAP machine and it has stopped his snoring completely. He had to experiment with different masks and ended up with an humidifier and heated tube too as his mouth got incredibly dry.

If given a CPAP machine he may struggle at first to get used to it, but tell him to persevere. I've had one for about 5 years now and the difference it has made is incredible.
