11 week old baby has sore looking willy!

My 11 week old boy has started to develop a rather red and sore looking tip on his willy. I have tried out various creams on it, some anti fungal and anti bacterial ones but it looks just the same. Has anyone else had a baby with this? My other boys nevr had probs. Any thoughts on what it could be and do you think I need a trip to the docs or can I avoid it if poss? TIA

Hiya. Really don't want to be teaching you to suck ...er... eggs; especially as you've got boys. Have you tried Metanium? that worked for me on DS when most failed. Having said that I did have to take him to the GP with an inflamed foreskin that sounds just like your son's and got prescribed..... (running to fridge where it's stored in case of willymergency) ........... Timodine . No idea what that is but it did the job. LOL Dontcha just love winkie trouble?!?

Timodene is an anti-fungal cream, it's apparently a bit more waterproof than something like Canesten so the GPs often prescribe it for things like thrush in the nappy area.

If you've tried ordinary barrier and anti-fungal creams, I'd get the GP to take a look in case he's got a little infection.

Shirazz, I learn new things everyday about parenting. espiter having an entire pharmacy in the medicine cabinets I do not have that of which you speak. Sounds just the ticket. Best pop off to gp's. God with umpteen kids I think I should just take up redidence there .

www, yes that makes sense, thanks for the info

Anyone have any other thoughts? Things that the dr might miss?

At 13m DS1 had an infection under his foreskin, as it was a weekend NHS direct advised us to go to A&E as if it is a urinary tract infection the baby can't wee and could end up in a lot of pain or with kidney probs. DS1's started off as a bit sore looking then the next morning I opened his nappy and this huge swollen purple thing was looking at me! It was very sore for him too. He just did teeeny dribbles of pee and cried every time he weed. Ring NHS direct now to see. DS needed antibiotics and an antibiotic cream as it wasn't a fungal thing but an infection. Don't mean to worry you but ring NHS direct, we did and they said it needed checking quick.

Yes we were told to leave nappy off a lot too, which was a pain a) it was december and b) he was fully mobile so our house was a bit soggy for a while.

Hi Hedda. Have you tried Shea butter? It's one of the purest and most moisturising stuffs (Technical, eh)ever Have used it on DS's chapped face in the winter, mammoth swollen boobs when I was pregnant with DD, As a night cream, as the only thing to sort my cracked hands & feet out - GOD! Don't I sound attractive?!? Don't buy the expensive stuff - no need & it's cheaper to buy from somewhere like Sheabutter cottage. (Course it is a nut so if he's got a nut allergy might be a problem)

Poor DS, F.jibbet! My DS had that once too. Did get better quickly though. I cried more than he did, it looked so sore.

Happy Winkies everyone!
