Blocked ears

I have had blocked ears now for well over a month. It feels like I'm on an aeroplane and constantly have to blow out/yawn to equalise them.

I've been to see the doctor as I'm getting a lot of pain that comes and goes and it's just really annoying me. The gp said it's just left over mucus from a cold I had a few moths ago and will pass eventually.

I don't feel like I have any blocked sinuses etc. Does anyone know what else it could be? I want to go back to the gp but they seem to think it's fine! As was no redness inside the ear and no temperature!

I had this, my GP said it's a blocked eustachian tube (not sure on the spelling). I needed my ears syringed but I used wax softening drops first which helped, I also used a nasal spray for 3 months to help clear the blockage. It still comes and goes but I usually find by using the wax softening drops it clears itself up.

Have you been bodging with a q tip? That doesn't clean your ears out, it just pushes the wax to make a wax compaction.

My gp said to never put anything in your ear, smaller than your elbow.

You might need to have them syringed.

Ear trouble is miserable. Hope you feel better soon.

Try olive oil for 3 days - 10 mins each side and gently massage around the ear...!

I have been using olive oil but it doesn't seem to help. When I saw the doctor befor they said it didn't look like anything was blocked.

Do you think it's worth trying to get them syringed anyway? Feverbee and fieryginger did you pay for private syringing or get it done at the doctors?x

These are two separate issues - if you have wax blocking your outer ear, I'd have them microsuctioned - costs about £60 and there are specialist clinics who do it. Eustachian tubes limk your nose and inner ear, so
they could be blocked and causing that pressure sensation. For that, you need steam and a decongestant spray (3 days max with the spray). Very annoying but they w

Spartacunt -thank you! I do think it's the eustachian tubes as doesn't seem to be blocked with wax! I will keep going with the steam. I started with a nasal spray but did the 3 days and was no better and didn't want to carry it on as people say they are very addictive!!
