Hi there
I'm just new to this site and hopefully can find someone who has experienced what I'm going through right now.
Over the past few days I have noticed loads of bruises over my legs. Mostly on my thighs! I know i haven't bumped myself so it's freaking me out. Obviously I googled and worst diseases imaginable came up! Anyway, called nhs24 today and they told me to go to out of hours. The Dr said there is blood & protein in my urine and high blood pressure. I've to go to my docs first thing tomorrow for bloods. My anxiety is through the roof! 😰

Hi op, I'm a nurse and I suppose you can't really be reassured until your bloods have been done, hopefully they'll be ok.
The doc maybe wasn't too worried as they didn't suggest getting your bloods done today x

Thanks for your reply. I should have mentioned I take Azathioprine for Crohns and have done for years without any bother.

Yes, you should have mentioned the azathioprine. When it was first prescribed you should have been told to report immediately any unexplained bruising, bleeding or signs of infection (fever, etc.).

Have you started taking any other medications recently (including off-the-shelf medicines or supplements), or made any significant changes to your diet?

Hi Harry
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have been taking Setraline for my anxiety for around 4 weeks now. I was at my GP this morning and they have taken bloods. He said I should have word back tomorrow! Anxious wait obviously thinking the absolute worst case scenario Confused

Sertraline shouldn't usually be a problem with azathioprine. It does very rarely cause thrombocytopaenia (reduced platelet number), so that is a possibility - albeit a fairly remote one - that would be easy to fix.

I assume you're not taking any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.).

Cocodamol wouldn't cause bleeding. Hope you're feeling ok and get your results soon!
